Wesley Clark is Karl Rove's Worst Nightmare...
For all the Clark supporters. (Dupe? Please lock)

If Clark does decide to run, we can just imagine the thoughts that might go through White House political guru Karl Rove's brain as he tries to sleep, tossing and turning: "No, not a 2004 match-up of a war hero, four-star General from the South against my guy -- AWOL "pilot" George Dubya! My God, I can see Clark pounding Bush relentlessly in the final presidential debate on what were supposed to be George's strong points-foreign policy and homeland security! Uh oh, now we're onto economic issues, and Bush is floundering, sinking fast. And now it's election night, and Clark is winning all the "blue" states that Al Gore won in 2000, plus some "red" states too-including his home state of Arkansas. And, horror of horrors, Fox News just called Florida, and the election, for Clark by a landslide, with no chads or recounts this time. As Rove wakes up in a cold sweat, and as we leave his brain forever, we hear him muttering, "What a nightmare! what was that about?"

Well, Karl, it's about the threat General Wesley Clark poses to your candidate's reelection chances. It's also about the potential for a veritable epidemic of cold-sweat syndrome breaking out amongst Republican politicians and political consultants all over America. To put it bluntly, Clark could kick George W. Bush's butt in 2004. Regarding a Bush-Clark matchup in 2004, and paraphrasing the immortal words of that "straight shootin' Texan," George W. Bush himself: "Bring It On!"

30. Flake Is A Pejorative Time
and I eschew pejorative terms unless I'm referring to Republicans -:)
but DK is a left winger and a pacifist.

And being either is nothing to be ashamed of.

As far as pacifism I subscribe To Malcom's philosophy. " Treat people with respect but should anybody lay their hands on you you have the right to resist by any means necessary." And I would substitute my country for you.

2. Great Article
It gives a concise recap of Wesley Clark and what he represents.

If you still have not chosen a candidate to support, check out this article and you might be convinced that WC is the best chance we have to win in 2004. That is, if only he would announce...soon!

3. Best political article I ever read
His article gets to the root of our political cancer that has plagued us. Wesley Clark will be elected to be our greatest American President ever in 2004.

6. Why...
...do you consider him to be the nightmare of the working class? From everything that I've read and heard about him, I came to just the opposite opinion.

7. is Clark against the working class?
how so? He seems quite vague on most issues, but he has said he supports progressive taxation (at least).

There are a few calls for sources to lend credibility to your statement. Why not give them?

it has nothing to do with idealism.

25. I couldnt resist
but seriously, where is the wisdom in expecting a general to bring peace and prosperity? Because he says so? I don't usually trust anyone who killed and opressed people for a living and then promise the opposite.

28. You need to do some homework. Clark is hardly a war mongerer...
He has spoken out against both the Vietnam and Iraq Occupation wars. So what makes you think Clark is a war mongerer when the evidence would suggest otherwise?

5. Can a military general win a Democratic primary?
I think Clark could win the general election easily, not sure if he could win our primary. Besides, Clark seems to be vague on almost all the issues.

Clark started off middle class and worked his way up through his talents and hard work - and a whole lot of help from the Rhodes Scholarships and the wealthy elite that run them, just like Clinton. That puts him far ahead of a silver spooner like Bush, and many Democrats.

I wonder if Clark sees the outsourcing of jobs a national security issue?

26. Video Link on Cspan....
He was quite good at the NDN meeting. Personally, I don't expect him to address all the issues in minute detail until he announces.

The link to the NDN meeting should be the first on the list.

8. The last time a Rhodes Scholar from Arkansas
ran for President against an incumbent bush it was bad news for the neocons. By the way, that last guy didn't enter the race until October of the year prior to the election. I don't think Clark will get in too late, I believe the nine others got in too early.

14. There are some real positives to Clark
First, from what I have heard from him directly, I consider him to be moderately progressive which makes me feel a little more comfortable. Second, he has a military mindset which makes me believe that a Clark Administration would be well organized and very formally structured which is a good thing. His appointees would be "tasked" to develop effective policy and propose efficient steps to implement them. Third, he understands leadership and how it must be effectively applied.

What all this adds up to is an orderly, focused administration without the chaos of the Bush* administration. That, in itself is a positive..

like it is a touchdown for our team or is the future just a little bit more important than giving the keys to a damn general and hoping for the best because it is "anyone but bush?"

So we should sheepishly take his word for it and not support Clark :eyes:

33. A Win Is A Win Is A Win
I'd rather have Clark naming the next three or four Supreme Court justices who will set the tenor of the law for our lifetimes than Son of a Bush.

That is reason enough to support the General.

23. We actually need both
A military man and a non-military man but both must think Iraq was and still is a bad idea. I don't think the active duty military is going to go for Bush in the way the media pretends they do. The Veterans are also falling off the love bandwagon for the Republicans.
We need the solider to make the average citizens believe that America is safer under them. The un-solider for many in our party who fear our military and their leaders. If we have both of these on our ticket we should be unstoppable.

38. No way does Clark have VeepLust
I find it doubtful that a man who has clearly beaten just about everyone he has ever come across, career-wise, would be interested in the Veep spot.

I think he's running, and if not, he'd make one helluva Sec Defense or State.
