miscalulate?
After today's breaking news in Cali did the democrats miscalculate? Should Feinstein change her mind? I'm concerned and worried. Married to a Kennedy, being a moderate(he will lean as far left as he can without changing parties)and the anger toward Gray, should a big name democrat jump in?

2. Terry MacCauliff screwed up big time, again!
Arnold's strongest atraction is that very few people in California like Governor Davis, and that includes a significant number Democrats. Arnold is also a moderate Republican, to the left of Lieberman on many issues, and he is far more palatable than that crypto-nazi Darrell Issa. Arnold's own story as a former immigrant that came to America with no money in his pockers, and made it big, will resonate with many Californians.

I personally think that DNC Chair Terry McCauliff made a grievious tactical error when he demanded that all Democratic office holders backed Davis. Having Feinstein decide not to run today leaves the Democrats with no candidate to field as an alternative to Davis. Davis is not going to win the recall election!

There are 3 days left for a Democrat to file. I suggest that if you want a chance to keep the Governorship in Democratic hands, that you put another name in the hopper. I repeat, Davis will not survive the recall. Davis will not even carry a majority of Democratic voters.

3. saddened
It saddens my heart, but I belief that you are right. We need a big name democrat to run and go after that latino vote strong. Dubya will start flying Jeb's kids out there with their spanish-speaking commercials. Arnold will try to use the "I'm an immigrant just like you and came to this country with nothing" BULLSH@#

4. We need California next year
Having the Governorship in Republican hands will not help in the Presidential Election. However, Californians should be free to choose on the Davis recall. I just think it is silly for the Democrats to put all of their eggs in Davis's basket. It is more than a gamble, it is reckless!

12. You can sure say that again .... He made a HUGE mistake!!
If this is any indication of McAuliffe's job skills, you have to wonder if he has any more know-how than that for national politics.

8. I was hoping Loretta Sanchez or even Barbara Boxer
Sanchez was on Hardball yesterday and she could not even bring herself to saying that Davis was a good Governor.

I believe there are only 3 days left to the deadline to file.

9. Baldwin,Boxer,Feinstein?
Here are a few names. Can anyone think of any others? Also, I think that California will be a BIG factor in the presidential elections. Dubya is going to make a big deal about the problems and emphasized that it came under a democrat's watch.
That's why we need a strong democrat to force Dubya not to even go there. Davis needs to resign, so that the state can get a democrat who will have a realistic chance of winning.
Funny thought- Larry Flynt and Arnold debating. My money is on the smut seller!

13. I am not sure
Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 04:06 AM by Wonder

I haven't given much thought to who. As I have said before I remain indifferent on one level to the high level of corruption on both sides. No one particularly moves me. When you asked the first person that came to mind was Jerry Brown, but he was already governor.

snip

"Boxer said she strongly opposes the recall, but that Democrats should field another candidate if polls show Davis would lose his job. After examining poll results this week, Boxer said she'll say by Friday if she thinks another Democrat should run. The deadline to enter the race is Saturday."

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2003/08/05/national0456EDT0469.DTL

When you look at the alternatives Arnold Flint McCintock. I mean it's a joke... I am finding it very difficult to take any of it seriously... Yes I realize we have to make the best of garbage...

Of the names mentioned, I could look at Boxer. But this is off the top...

In the meantime ... I heard a gun shot and a car tear off and called it in... about an hour ago... apparently a guy's car had been hijacked and when the perps tore off they fired their gun in the air... because I phoned it in... the perps were caught... in the chase apparently they tossed the gun ... so now I corroborate the victims story (hmmm or is it the accuser -- I guess these days that would depend on what one is a victim of - eh?) -- too bad the perps totalled his car as a consequence of the chase. Now does this mean when they go to court I will be called in as a "fact witness" what I witnessed was audio?

The police just left... indifferent is how I feel most of the time.

ON EDIT AFTER READING THE NEW NEWS ON BUSTAMANTE...NIX ON BOXER...
