Who are your "Heroes of Peace"?
Who are your heroes of peace?

I ask this in response to the "Operation Iraqi Freedom -- Heroes of War" cards featuring a color portrait of none other than AWOL chickenhawk GWB on the box! I was at the convenience store earlier today and saw a box of these cards sitting next to the register -- man, did that piss me off to see GWB now touted as a military hero of all things! (Of course, anytime you go to a gas station/convenience store they seem to sell more than the usual share of violent and sexist novelties but still, this was simply beyond the pale.)

Anyway, I thought, "why not a Heroes of Peace card deck?" Wouldn't this really be something to share, especially if the cards came with a short bio on the reverse of each card? Perhaps this is an idea worth pursuing, especially if they could be used as a fundraiser for an organization dedicated to furthering the ideals of peace.

So who would make your list of the "Heroes of Peace", and why?

3. I could get into saints, but that would be too easy and the list would be
way too long.

So I'll just list St. Francis.
