Why the media gives this troglodyte any credibility, or platform for that matter, is certainly beyond me. He's right now talking about the gay priest story... HE'S NOT EVEN CATHOLIC! This is akin to having the KKK Grand Dragon as a guest to debate the subject of heart disease increases in African Americans.

I don't know whether people notice this or not, but it happens EVERY TIME the subject of anything gay comes up. If it's not Fatwell, it's Robertson, or Bauer, Wildmon, Sheldon, Schlaffly and the list of neanderthalls goes on.

The Vatican makes a pronouncement, and they ask Falwell what he thinks about it. The Episcopals decide to elect a gay bishop, and they ask Falwell about it.

6. Falwell isn't really the point though, is he?

It's CNN and the rest of the media that lends credibility to this guy, when with saner people in charge of our news, he would be dismissed as the crackpot that he is and wouldn't be called.

If you needed to do a story on a mission to Mars, would you call top NASA scientists on the feasibility of such an endeavor, or would you call that society the denies that we landed on the moon and maintain that it was all staged?

If your doing a story on back injuries while riding roller coasters, would you consult medical experts and physicists who study inertia, or would you ask some kid who loves them, and an old man with a bad back who never rode any?

They don't even challenge him on his hyperbole. He says gay marriage will break down the family unit...they never ask him how that will happen. He says that gays destroy the American way of life, but they never ask of specifics. He still (after all these years) repeats the old wives' tales about recruitment and young boys, yet never gets called on, to explain just how gays can be so successful at recruiting. If he's such an expert, then why don't they dig into his statements more?

I thought he was through after he blamed 9/11 on gays, femminists, ACLU, etc, since this was the only time I ever saw his feet held to the fire. Now, he's back on the air, as if he never said that Muhammed was a terrorist, and Timky Winky carries a purse.

We will always have these crackpots, Falwell doesn't matter. The media that gives him a platform is the problem.

ole jerry was guesting on Ron Reagan's junior's excellent talk show about 20 yrs ago when sex topic was discussed...somehow or other the sin of masturbation was argued over (i forget who other 2 guests were) but one of them admitted he did masturbate...so did the others and that left jerry (HAAA!) Ron finally asked him directly "Do YOU masturbate?" and after hemming hawing for several amazing minutes Falwel admitted he did!
If truth was that hard to fess up to when falwel was fairly young, imagine what it's like now!
Anyone remember Ron Reagan's show? That would be so great to get the clip...(btw even 20 yrs ago, Ron was on like midnight during busy week..his show only lasted few months, despite his dad being prez:-( )
another reference for those interested in falwel is his hijacking of the PTL club after Jimmy and Tammy screwed up....a documentary on Tammy Faye recounted the drama...falwel inc looked like vultures!

5. You touch on something that has bothered me for years

Some years back, good ole MS-RNC had a program about gays. They had some psychologists(or maybe psychaitrists{sp?}) saying that it was either caused by pressures in the womb or environment in early age. The other side was Foulsmell, who treated it like a choice such as hair color or which belt to wear. I sent MS-RNC an e-mail suggesting that they could do a program on the big bang, invite Steven Hawking and counter him with Foulsmell, since, obviously to MS-RNC, Foulsmell is an expert on anything.
