Personal Life Attacks
I hope the candidates don't have ammunition for the right as far as their personal lives are concerned. When the Jesse Jackson baby story broke, it was a 2 year old story as far as the family was concerned. I even met a guy at a party who told me that at his Young Republicans meeting, they talked about it 8 months before the story broke. It was used to send Jesse home when he was protesting the vote count in Flordia.

1. I hope so too...
Personal lives should be just that -- personal -- but unfortunately, they're not.

On Sunday night, my husband's speechwriter asked us, in the middle of a crowded restaurant: "What's on your permanent record?"
Basically, insinuating, that if there was anything there, we need to identify it now and figure out how to deal with it, instead of waiting for the other guy to drag it out.

Thankfully, there are no arrests, no municipal citations, no drug rehab, no secret babies, nothing for either of us...I had a speeding ticket 2 years ago...that's it...but it's still scary.

2. If it was just about Jesse's behavior and fathering a child outside
of his marriage. The story should have come out when it was received. But it was used at a very critical time when his voice was very much needed.

3. If they can't find something, they'll make it up.

4. Yep...and once a story starts in the rumor mill, it comes back
much bigger than it really is.
