the freepers are not happy with Ahnuld
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/960035/posts?q=1&&page=1#1

They are slinging mud right and right over there. They're pushing McClintock for governor. They're making Issa out to be a saint because he dropped out. He knew that he didn't have a snowball's chance to win since Ahnuld came into the race.

I'm finding the whole thing more and more amusing. If Ahnuld can't keep the conservatives in line, maybe he won't win. Gods willing he won't win!

One of the least palatable of all the Republican idealogues in the CA state senate.

I hated doing it, but I voted for Davis because the alternative (Bill Simon) was so very, very bad.

I'm a little torn because I think that Bustemante would be a good governor, and less in the pocket of the private prison industry than Davis is, but I still think that it's unfair to the point of criminality to abuse our electoral system this way.

So, despite my misgivings, I will once again be forced to vote for Gray Davis. I had hoped that it would be the last time, last November.

2. Important...
to either:

A)have the recall turned down (the majority will vote NO)
B)if the recall passes have a Democrat/Progressive(Arianna H.) to succeed Davis
c)Keep the Repugs out at all costs, especially Ahr-nuld. He will be the perfect prop piece for the Republicans
next year!

21. RIght now, I'm going with Arianna.
That would really piss the Thugs off since she was once one of them. Of course I am voting a resounding NO on the damn recall in the first place, but I just don't see that succeeding right now.

The Thugs are in enough of a snit because we can vote No and STILL vote for someone. Teehee.

5. Ahhnuld is far too liberal for a lot of California
conservatives, he's pro-choice, in favor of gun control, he spearheaded the movement for a vote on funding for after-school programs for latchkey children, etc. They're not too crazy about him, but it's their own damn fault for starting all of this mess in the first place. I only wish I lived in CA so I could happily vote against the recall!

14. You forgot...
pro-gay adoption. :)

He IS far too liberal on social issues for many Californias -- if Simon stays in the race, he could pull those conservative voters from Arnie.

6. pro-choice is never welcome there
I just spent a little time looking at that thread myself. They think he's a RINO, but are desperately happy to get any repub elected in CA. They think Arnie will deliver Bush the 54 electorals...HA!

9. hehehe look at the press release one posted
Traditional Values Coalition (traditionalvalues.org - i think)

Rev. Louis P. Sheldon, chairman of the Traditional Values Coalition, said today Arnold Schwarzenegger would create a "moral vacuum" in Sacramento if he became California's governor.
"As Governor, Mr. Schwarzenegger would be a darker villain than any he has faced in his movies. And when it comes to the moral issues that Californians really care about - he gives us inaction not action."

He announced the formation of Californians for Moral Government (CMG) to oppose Schwarzenegger's candidacy.

LOL.. they have to create a new group to block arnie... "Californians for Moral Government" LOL

13. I don't think that Arnold is really a Republican and
I think this was meant to split the Republican vote. It is really hard for me to imagine a Republican being pro-choice, for gun control, and married to a Democrat.
BTW...In "Pumping Iron", I thought I saw a part where he smoked weed.

But that was a good flick.

18. Almost as unhappy with him as DUers are with Lieberman...
And for about the same reason. Not enough ideological purity for the party faithful who spend all their time posting there.

As an interesting parallel, Dean's argument against Lieberman is about the same as your hope against Arnold - e.g. he won't energize his base enough to win.

Arnold won and then switched parties. His positions are very moderate, he could be a Dem. Maria should be working on him to do this.
