Clinton, Gore and others are working on Bush
They are not looking for any kind of knock out punch....yet. The first jab to the body was Clinton getting it out into the open very clearly that Bush made a mistake which has cost many lives on Larry King. Before then it was everyones fault but Bushs. That was the set up for the next jab today to Bushs chin from Gore that Bush has been lying to us and the whole world. A few more body shots here and a few more jabs to the chin there and pretty soon Bush is going to be wobbly. Then someone is going to come in with a hard right for the knock out punch. Should be interesting to watch. That is my take on it anyway.

Don

3. That was the beauty of when Clinton said, "Everyone makes mistakes..."
The conservatives jumped all over it."See. See. You guys should listen to Bill Clinton and cut the pres some slack." But, like you say, Bubba was just softenen him up.

8. luring him out into the open?
Bush did say he is responsible for everything he said. He thought the Dems were rolling over again???

I lose Chess and Risk and every other strategy game there is. I can't get past the part where I think, well what if they don't move the way I think they will. But I really hope you're right, if this is a strategy, it'll be pure delight to watch it unfold.

5. You may be right
Notice that * "took responsibility" after Clinton's statements. The press seems to have dropped the story -- but that's partly a function of the August escape. Schwarzenegger will now suck up an enormous amount of air. Clinton and Gore both need to be elder statesmen now. They are admired figures who should be willing to speak their minds now, for the good of our country. And for their own place in history. One of the best things Gore did today, IMO, was to defend himself & Clinton again. If only he'd done that during the campaign, it wouldn't have been close enough for them to steal.

13. Two Words: Karl Rove
He is the one who tries to make everyone believe up is down, black is white, forward is backward and the media lapdogs do his bidding...

16. I'm one of 12 here.
And I have always smelled the Big Dog in the background. It's there in Hill and Kerry's floor speeches on Iraq, too. They were boxing Bush in and preserving the relevance of the UN.

14. Wouldn't surprise me
If both of them are reading this post right now while sipping down some coffee at Al's house in Tennessee talking about their next move and laughing at how Bush fell for what they're both up to. I knew that Clinton was up to something when people started flaming him here for "giving the chimp a pass on the SOTU address". He did it in a way that fired up people here and made him too comfortable and got other people fired up to take on Bush because they thought that Clinton should but he goaded both them and Bush into doing something.

15. When I saw that Pew poll today
I got a shot of optimism. People are overwhelmingly concerned about the economy, and I also don't believe Iraq has gotten any better - troops are still dying (which is what voters care about). I hope you're right, Don!
