So he put the wood to alot of Hollywood starlets or would be starlets who weren't his wife.

So did Ronald Reagan when he was married to Jane Wyman.

So his father was a Nazi.

Unless it's proven that facism is genetically transferred he gets a pass.

I have seen him for several years. He's Bill Weld with muscles and without the intellect;fiscally conservative and socially liberal but his grasp on the issues is weak.

Let's be bigger than our opponents. Let's defeat Arnold because he's incompetent not because he's evil.

Well that is illegal. And as a gubernatorial candidate in California I think it relates to his stance on legalization of marijuana whatever that may be. If he is against legalization, then it is necessary and valid to show photos of him toking.

The bigger opponent is the one that wins, and taking the high road in California will not get anyone into the governor's mansion.

3. I Smoked Pot

Pounds of it when I was a teenager and I oppose legalization.

However I do support decriminaliztion of all drugs with an emphasis on treatment.

Also, I don't think CA voters care if Arnold smoked a joint twenty five years ago.

We are on the verge of making ourselves worse than irrelevant. We will make ourselves into laughingstocks.

5. If you broke a law in your adult life

and run for public office, it is valid to bring it up publicly. However, that would probably get him votes in California.

I think smear campaigns are fine as long as they are accurate proven facts and geared to a particular areas voters. There never was a high road in politics. That is just a nostalgic longing for Shangrala.

2. You're playing right into the GOP's hands

Democrats should focus on Question 1: Recall or Do Not Recall? Is Davis a hopeless fuckup or just a decent governor put into an impossible situation by factors beyond his control, i.e. the economy, Enron, etc.?

If you make it into a beauty pageant then Arnold Schwarzenegger will prevail. The GOP strategy is to divide Democrats up into as many camps as possible, and they're doing it. The Democratic Party made a HUGE strategic blunder by not getting behind ONE alternative Democratic candidate to become governor in the event Davis is recalled. Instead we now have at least three non-GOP entries who each have enough popular support to prevent any of the others from achieving a plurality, thus handing it to the GOP.

If the recall succeeds the best hope to prevent a GOP takeover now is for Republicans to split among the relatively liberal Governator, conservative Tom McClintock, and whoever else enters the fray. Face it guys, Democratic leadership blew it BIG TIME. And Davis and his supporters filing their failed lawsuits looks really bad. Davis is sworn to uphold the state Constitution and existing statutes, not what he thinks it should say. Having his own Attorney General file a brief against him was pathetic.

4. Govenor of Cali

I'm not in Cali, i'm in Texas (which sucks, I hate all the SUVs and big trucks).. but from what i've read, only 25% of californian's support Davis.. that's BAD .. real bad. He's not doing something right, that's for sure.

And I admire him for coming here with nothing, and then fulfilling the American dream. The father a Nazi thing is laughable. Sometimes I suspect too many people have been watching too many Star Trek episodes, thinking that the Klingon blood stain of shame goes to the sons and for many generations. It's silly.

His movies I have to say I have enjoyed a few of them, especially Terminator and Commando. There is no question to me he is entertaining.

What is in question is his ability to govern a state like California, why anyone would vote for a movie actor with no qualifications is a puzzle. I don't think he will win.

That non-issue is sure to backfire on anyone who tries to exploit it against Schwarzenegger.

BTW the one good thing I've learned from this episode is how to spell Schwarzenegger.

8. I Liked Twins

The premise that Arnold and Danny Devito were twins was hilarious.

Hell, just seeing Danny Devito makes you chuckle.

9. That will play well with Democrats, but not with Republicans

All but the most zelot Republicans will be appalled at Arnold's adulterist and lechorous past. Also, religious Republicans don't like him because on every social issue he's a liberal, a far-left liberal.

The robber baron Republicans and the Republican party hacks like him because he'll campaign for Bush (do you really want an untarnished Terminator campaigning for Bush all throughout 2004?) using his bully pulpit of the CA governor office. Also, Republicans already have a Constitutional amendment ready to allow foreigners, like Arnold, to become President.

Anna Richardson of Big Screen claims that after the cameras stopped rolling for her interview segment, Schwarzenegger, apparently attempting to ascertain whether Richardson’s breasts were real, tweaked her nipple and then laughed at her objections. “I left the room quite shaken,” she says. “What was more upsetting was that his people rushed to protect him and scapegoated me, and not one person came to apologize afterward.”

10. He's a pawn

He should be defeated because he won't stand up to the energy companies like Davis has. He won't take on big oil or the auto manufacturers or the feds like Davis has. He won't stand up for farm workers like Davis has.

And there will be no chance that he'd work for temporary, emergency tax increases the spare services like Davis has.

BUT, defeating Arnie is a defeat for Bush and I'm torn on restrictions. CA has 54 electoral votes. Maybe it's time for 'anything goes'

At any rate, character and his regard for women are elements of public life and any hypocritical 'family values' swill opens the gate, imo.
