It's one thing for Arnold to seek office in a legitimate election, but this recall is the closest thing to a "coup d'etat that we've had since . . . well, since Florida in 2004. There isn't that much upstairs in her brain to do any hard thinking. She is pretty dumb actually. The only reason she got any jobs as a TV "journalist" is because of her family ties. The only thing she ever did possibly well as a journalist was Hollywood gossip. If the East Coast has a version of a Valley Girl, that's Maria. I am suspicious that Arnold likes em dumb. I think he married Maria for that reason and because she was well connected.

I had no idea what Ahnold's premarital/postmarital-adulterous history was like until he declared his candidacy. What a role model he's been for his children - not. His wife could have divorced him and done quite well with alimony/child support, plus her own family assets. I can not understand why she stayed in the marriage - but I had a beautiful, brainy friend in law school who married a guy very like Ahnold and she keeps alternatively obsessing about his affairs and popping out another baby (four kids). I wonder how messed up the kids are in situations like this.

Of course, being too stupid to be capable of thought is only one possible explanation for marrying Arnold Schwarzenneger.

The other is being too self-interested to care about the consequences of her actions for anyone other than herself. People motivated by greed are a large subset of this class. Obscenely wealthy people are a large subset of that subset.

When one sees someone doing an apparently inexplicable thing, stupidity and evil are often the only two explanations available. Of course, it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between them, and there is a body of evidence to indicate that they frequently co-exist.
