What is this DU lovefest for Ah-nold? I come here looking for outrage and what do I find?

1. We mustn't criticize Ahnold for his father's Nazi past-its not his fault.

Yeah, right. And if Clinton's dad had been in the KKK we never would have heard it because republicans don't play that way.

2. His sexuality (affairs/bisexuality/porno movies) is his private business and not a legitimate campaign issue.

Sure, why don't you try explaining that to Chelsea Clinton who had to wade through the muck to survive.

3. He's married to Maria Shriver-he can't be all bad.

Bill Clinton was married to a woman far more liberal than he and it certainly didn't seem to move him to the left. Why should a shrinking violet like Maria have any impact on Ahnold?

4. He'll probably change parties.

Huh? Where did you hear this? Sources? He's not a closet Dem, he's not an Independant, he a R-E-P-U-B-L-I-C-A-N. He will give his allegiance to Bush, Cheney, Rove, Ashcroft and the whole slew of trash that are currently ruining our country.

5. He supports gay rights and abortion.

So what? What major politician of either party in California doesn't? Doesn't take a lot of guts to be pro-gay and pro-choice inCalifornia.

Two years from now when Dianne Feinstein's small plane goes down over northern California, who will Ahnold choose to replace her? Another liberal? Think again.

Please, people, wake up. B-grade movie actors are dangerous, as history has proven. Please don't give this guy a chance. He doesn't deserve it.

Former Gov. Pete Wilson was also pro-choice and supported gay rights. He was still a Republican through-and-through and an opponent to virtually everything else progressive's want to achieve.

Seeing so many positive comments about Arnold here is making me think DU has turned upside-down.

I have also looked again at the initial report printed in Lloyd's List and there are one or two discrepancies from the information 'Bear' reports, but I'm sure his version is correct. Such discrepancies are shown in brackets. The owner is reported as Dan Hogan (Daniel Hoga), of Andover, Massachusetts. Pilot was Ed Zimny (Edwin Zimmy), owner and operator of Zimny's Flying Service, of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Four passengers were on board the flight, scheduled from Lawrence Municipal Airport to Barns Municipal Airport, being Senator Edward Kennedy, Senator Birch Bayh and his wife, and Edward Moss, an administrative assistant to Edward Kennedy. Ed Zimny was killed in the accident and Edward Moss died later from his injuries. The aircraft was found with both props feathered and the rotating beacon still operating."

"NOT" inhale, but is featured in a movie where he is smokin a doob in celebration.

His only platform seems to be the "I'm not him" or "The other side sucks" platform. Yeah, that may rally the troops in the short term, but don't think he can ride into the Gov mansion by slamming Davis (which is the only thing he has done at this point).

BTW - I have no problem with him smokin a doob (even if he did it last week). I don't think it is relevent. The reason I don't think Arnold should be Governor is because (like AWOL), he is not qualified.

18. I kinda liked Arnold

back when he was making books about bodybuilding. I found them very useful. I never would have thought he would be an actor (and some can make a claim that he is still reaching for that goal), and the thought of him as Governor of anything larger than a chain of gyms makes me cringe.

1. His father's nazi past is not his own. To claim it as such is to commit a logical fallacy.

2. I am a Democrat, not a Republican. Therefore any ad hominem or logical fallacy must be both true and relevant, otherwise it makes no sense.

3. I want to know more about this guy. Based on my long expereinces, which includes Reagan and Jesse Ventura from a distance, Schwarzenegger has a very significant chance of being our next governor, like it or not.

4. I do not like it, but I do want to discuss it. I'm not interested in just propaganda. Again, I'm a Democrat.

5. It is a very real possibility that this entertainer will be our governor come October. Another idiot undermining democracy by his lack of competence. But that doesn't mean that among us friends, I cannot comment about how unhappy the Republicans might be. I became disappointed in Davis early in 1999 because he was so far to the right. There is a very real chance that this guy is not as far right as Davis.

here himself. He is not well liked, he has NO champions in Sacramento. Granted, he hasn't done a bad job, but he has set himself up for failure.

The GOP was behind Issa. He can be bought and paid for. Considering the political scene in CA, he made a fascinating move here. BUT he lost on his bet, he didn't wager on the Terminator factor! The problem with the GOP is that they have no one with integrity, so their candidates REALLY suck.

The GOP as a whole, with the bush regime attached to it, is NOT behind AS. He is far too liberal for them, and in fact, is kinda similiar to that there Bill Clinton as far as ideals and vision goes. Not as smart, not as savvy though. BUT I don't believe he is a GOP whore, and that counts for a LOT.

AS is making a BRILLIANT play here. I HOPE he can't be bought, but knowing the kennedy family as I do, and I do, I believe he'll be a completely LIBERAL republican. He honestly has the power to do some good things. And thus far, he isn't bought and paid for by bush, and let's trust it stays that way.

I think we need to sit back and see what plays out. History is being made here.
