Media Not Reporting Military Deaths!
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 02:35 PM by veracity
Another soldier was killed in Iraq today. Yahoo news didn't mention it. The Washingto Post listed it in smaller fonts than all other news and listed it far down on its list of important headlines. WINS in NYC - the top news radio station mentioned the death after four other stories - including the name calling incident in the sports arena. Excite news makes no mention of the death at all.

We hear NOTHING about any military deaths unrelated to combat, There are suicides, accidents... who knows what. The number of those deaths now OUTNUMBERS combat deaths! We hear nothing of the 800+ wounded soldiers! We NEVER hear that civilian deaths topped six thousand, and that number goes up on a daily basis. We DO hear about the manhunt for Saddam. The US posse is in great form.

We also hear NOTHING about the Taliban return to power in Afghanistan. We hear what they want us to hear.

Is there any question that this is calculated and intentional? It is so damn evident that the lapdog press contoinues to follow instructions from the White House and the Pentagon. As I write, Idiot Son is once again repeating the connection between the war on Iraq and 9/11. Mantras work. Control of the media works. WE MUST VOICE OUR OUTRAGE!

Please, - please join the email campaign! The effort to get the four major news anchors to hear our protests has resulted iin thousands of responses. They will hear us far more clearly as that number becomes greater and greater. It's a click and paste email. The links are on the page. Get others to join. Time is passing very quickly.

1. I think the media is continuing to do Dubya's bidding.

I believe Bush has warned the media to let up on the War news.

So instead the media is giving us these tidbits:

Arnold Schwartenegger is running for governor in Cal...
Kobe Bryant...
The economy is improving... (yeah, right)
WMDs will be found in Iraq... (when?)
and so on

3. Wounded Don't Count Either
In the NYT today, there is a description of an attack on a Humvee:
"Several Iraqi witnesses at the scene, though, said that two Americans..had been severely wounded, with at least one of them appearing to have lost his legs". Shouldn't this waste of human life be brought to end ASAP?

4. let's not forget
We're now not even allowed to see the bodies of the dead soldiers coming in at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
Heaven forbid an image that does not burnish Bush's image be allowed on corporate-controlled, right-wing television.
The Bush administration said that the decision to not allow reporters or tv cameras on the base was "at the request of the soldiers' families," but I don't believe that for a minute.
If you lost your son, would you prefer that his heroic sacrifice be acknowledged and honored, or merely ignored, like he didn't exist?

5. As long as they only report combat/"in action" deaths
they're engaging in disinformation AND seriously disrespecting those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraq war. Why aren't families of those who aren't counted speaking out? It is pure propaganda to reduce the numbers of dead by using this distinction, which is a new way of counting war dead, I believe (anyone know for sure?). It sickens me, and it sickens me more that the media repeats this administration spin.

7. If anybody saw Washington Journal this morning
Pam Hess from UPI, who is in Baghdad, said that three soldiers had been killed at a checkpoint. This was a matter of fact statement that she made and I have not heard anything else about it. I really wonder how far in the dark we really are about what is happening in Iraq.

8. The kind of crap that has flown in and off the Internet in the last ......
days, how could anyone wonder what was going on. Did you notice how Al Gore's speech went out on AP then disappeared? The news is out there its, just somebody is trying to manage it, so masses of regular people don't see it.

Iraq war's 20,000 wounded civilians ignored -group

By Andrew Cawthorne

LONDON, Aug. 7 — Around 20,000 civilians were wounded in the Iraq war and the U.S.-British occupiers are ignoring their suffering, a research group said on Thursday in what it termed the first study of the conflict's casualty toll.
''The maimed civilians of Iraq have been brushed under the carpet,'' the Iraq Body Count (IBC) said.

10. ??
"As I write, Idiot Son is once again repeating the connection between the war on Iraq and 9/11." WTF?

Someone posted a link yesterday where Wolfie was admitting there was no connection between SH and Al Quaida. Also, didn't the 9/11 report say there was no link to Iraq?

Guess I'm just confused. Need a scorecard to keep up with their lies, I guess! :silly:
