1. OK.
Arrest the ones who gave the orders too. There's plenty to go around.

This is no better than the "I wasn't trained" excuse. 1)That's a lie and 2) Do you need training to say "don't pile up a bunch of naked men"?

7. You don't have to go through military training to know this was
beyond the acceptable range.

And civilian contractors are not exempt from the Geneva convention.

In direct answer to your question... I've only seem military members mentioned. But it's possible.

5. Don't assume they could think beyond mere orders
that might be asking too much.

6. Please don't insult animals.
Seriously --

When I read the headline, for a second or two I thought there had been animals used in the prison and that the story was going to be about an animal rights attorney who was defending the animals. then I realized the phrase meant that the tormenters were being compared to non-human creatures.

8. Just Like the SS
The typical excuse of a coward. It's okay to abuse and torture prisoners until you get caught, then it's either "I was following orders" or "It's not my fault", and let's not forget "I didn't get that type of training."

From the photos shown so far all of the abusers are white, and their victims are "brown skinned people", perhaps the prison officials were trying an experiment to see if they could self govern.

Yeah, right!!!

9. Their having a lawyer is good - this has to go up the line
A good lawyer can push it uphill where it also belongs.

10. A Nuremberg type trial should also be initiated....
Torture - torment, whatever you call it, it is inhuman and no one in a long line of responsibility should get off. But if we have contempt for other people of the world and if we promise never to teach our children or other children that we are all God's children...then we should be satisfied to punish the lowliest on the chain.
