Can Freedom of Speech Be Discussed on This Board?
I was wondering if we could discuss Freedom of Speech on the Democratic Underground without being Deleted. I guess the test for this if this message will be deleted. Do others have opinions on this issue. Are we allowed to disagree with the DU or the Democratic Party? This message is more than 5 sentences. I counted. I my real life I have the freedom to speak. Why should I go to an online chat and lose that privilage? It seems that to the DU staff Freedom means: Message removed by moderator. Click here to review the message board rules. I don't like being dissed by a robot.

goodbye.

2. There is a conspiracy at work here
Rumor has it that Karl Rove bought DU and he's behind the oppresive new rules. :)

7. Depends. If one spews out repuke "talking points" ad nauseum....
...no.

It's really up to the honesty of the poster.

Remember this: This site is for debate within the Left/Liberal/Democratic types, not the "others".

Hope that isn't too complicated for you.

8. the censorship concerns me deeply
I am sorry. Had it happen myself where threads or postings have been deleted, and it always disturbs me... as whatever it was i was saying is surely less offensive than using a censor's knife to cultivate politically correct views.... and then true political discussion is lost.

I would hope you would stick around and make some good points of discussion. Wasn't armitage a character in "Neuromancer" or are you drawing from another source?

10. Do you see liberal posters being banned on Free Republic?
It's a very reasonable policy for both boards. People with similar ideologies would like to discuss their viewpoints without constantly engaging in arguments from the other party. There are plenty of messageboards from which to debate the various differences in conservative/liberal ideology. If you'd like to go discuss those differences, go try some different boards, I know plenty of people who post here also post on other messageboards.

They can show you the holes in your weak little arguments over there.

11. There are clearly posted rules, read them.
DU is privately owned and the owners have every right to establish specific parameters to participation on this board as they see fit.

If you do not care to abide by those parameters then DU is obviously not for you. You are free to find a different discussion board with which you would feel more comfortable.
