Have any Kucinich supporters made any attempt to "educate" Dean?
I have been seing a lot of recent Dean bashing, with most of it coming from vocal Kucinich supporters. You people do realize that Dean's web site is completely open to comments from the general public? If you have concerns about Dean's positions, or feel that he is not considering the effect of his proposed policies on everyone, then you should by all means let him know. Who knows, he might even be swayed if you take the effort to articulately present your point of view. But you need to accept that he may have a difference of opinion. I doubt very few of us have the experience of having to deal with all of the issues involved with governing at the scale of being a governor of even a small state like Vermont.

1. what vocal Kucinich supporters mostly are doing
is not Bashing imho, its criticism. Tell me this, would you tell me I am dean bashing if I tell you the reasons I have my iffs on Doctor Dean, and say this is why I like DK better. Thats not bashing not some stuff imo but Ive seen Kucinich bashed by some Dean supporters.
Not picking a fight just making a valid point.

6. John, what has been going on is not slight criticism, and you know it.
You are not that bad about it, but a lot of it is well-planned and organized.

Making suggestions is one thing, but what has been going on is not that. I just did a search for just the word Dean, and I believe just 3 days. I got a huge number of hits, and I just counted the negative ones for 24 hours. There were 12.

Do not try to present the many threads as mere criticism. Present your candidate's good points, others can do that, too.

We are supporting two at the moment, and I know their failings and shortcomings. It is getting so bad, I really get too upset to get much from the board. Have you noticed that the people who get upset at the thread about the ones being deleted and kicked off? Not the attackers, the ones who get upset. That is what it is geared to do.

I may have to stay away a while to keep from getting kicked off.

You know I am right.

7. Well lets just say I see it on both sides
Edited on Sun Aug-10-03 12:19 AM by JohnKleeb
I presented my candiates good points last night in all actuallity. I see it from both sides. I tell you its hard to be opotesmtic when people are saying Dean could be the next JFK or Clinton. I dont agree with some of it but madflordian keep in mind that they dont understand really why Dean is portrayed as the party's best hope by so many, and frankly they know that there are some who could do better, that being said I disagree with some of it, on candiate issues explaining.
Tiniore had a great thread for DK.

5. Why are you singling anyone out?
Dean supporters bash Kucinich, Kucinich supporters bash Dean, Kerry and Dean, Kerry and Kucinich, none of this is new?

Kucinich also has a section for comments too... I've seen Dean supporters bash the hell out of Dennis so why is it only Kucinich supporters bashing Dean that need to go submitting.

My prob was all the Dean supporters who ripped Kucinich for "flip-flopping" before ripping Dennis for calling Dean on one of his.

8. My problem with Howard Dean
That's the title of my message on his site, but we'll see if I get any response. I keep hearing him say he was the only one of the Presidential candidates to oppose the war, but he was only the governor of Vermont. How could he have done more than a sitting congressman like Dennis Kucinich? I didn't hear about him organising other governors in opposition to the Iraq war. Are his people too stupid to know what Dennis Kucinich did, or do they think the rest of us are too stupid to notice? This kind of slick, used-car salesman approach isn't going to fly in a national election.

Now every Dean supporter can flame away, but I'd like to hear an answer to my questions.

10. Or was it the questions on various candidates stance on NAFTA & WTO
that hit a sensitive spot? I'm not sure where Dean stands on these issues, but recall a thread yesterday that took issue with that question about foreign and domestic trade policy. Seems a VERY legitimate question to me. I'd still like to know where each one stands on it.

leprechaun or has bad hair or is funny looking. It's NOT bashing when people say they disagree with Kucinich that the Patriot Act should be repealed or they don't think the Social Security retirement age should be returned to 65 (from 67) or they don't think UN peacekeepers should take over in Iraq and American troops be brought home ASAP -- in all those cases, disagreement with Kucinich's positions is being stated. Bashing involves making irrelevant personal criticisms, like the ones already mentioned about his appearance. Another irrelevant criticism of Kucinich is "He's a vegan so he won't get the meat-eaters' votes." :silly:

You accuse Kucinich supporters of "bashing" Dean but what I've seen has been disagreement with Dean's positions. It's not only Kucinich supporters who disagree with Dean's positions and not only Dean's positions that are disagreed with by various DUers. All candidates' positions have come in for criticism at DU.

It does seem clear to me that many, maybe most DUers aren't interested in discussing the candidate's positions, but only in promoting the candidate they've chosen. I think that's a strange way to behave at what is, after all, a political message board, but if that's what most people want, they should go for it. Go on and ask the admins to set up a separate forum for each candidate and make it a rule that only good things about the candidate are to be said in "his" (or "her") forum -- and no criticism allowed of one candidate in another candidate's forum, either. (E.g., No Lieberman supporters sneaking in to Gephardt's forum to complain that Kerry pretended not to see Lieberman one time in the Senate dining room or that Sharpton copied his speaking style from Lieberman.)

14. I really don't like this bashing.
I favor Kucinich, but Dean is numver two in my book. I'll support whoever the Democratic nominee is, but Kucinich clearly ahs the most progressive ideas.

I don't know about any candidate's supporters "educating" another candidate. Right now, diversity is a good thing. Let's consider a range of ideas and select those that work the best and represent the best possible future for America. Dean and Kucinich both are saying some great things.
