Liberal and Conservative Ideas
How do you personally conceive the two opposing ideas?

I consider myself to be Socially Liberal and financially conservative.

People have a right to be free and do as they please as long as their actions do not harm others rights to also be free.

Things which support our rights should be Liberally applied to our society. Those things which harm our rights: Very conservatively applied.

Governmnet spending should not be free to Liberally expand. Our taxes should be extremely conservative when spent and used only to educate people, and protect them from losing their rights.

I think conservatism, as it is practiced today, is quite corrupted and being used to limit people. A Liberal mindset leans more toward protecting our rights and ensuring growth of the human specie as a whole.

Those are my rough ideas, I'd like to hear yours.......

1. My take
Conservatives are narrow-minded, and do not want to hear new ideas.
Liberals think people should be treated as human beings.

3. aka
Which can also be perceived as:

Conservatives are narrow-minded, and do not want to hear new ideas. Therefore it's easy for them to get their wagons circled and stay on message ad naseum until they get what they want.

Liberals think people should be treated as human beings. And therefore are open to many ideas which takes time and muddles the "message".

What makes liberals better people is what makes them an ineffective political force in this environment.

2. the rub
>>I consider myself to be Socially Liberal and financially conservative.

Sound like Libertarian to me. The problem is that the ideas don't occupy seperate and distict areas of society. They inconveniently rub up against each other all the time.

Take corporate flight. Profitable corporations pulling out of American communities to chase cheap (and repressed) labor make perfect sense on a spread sheet. It's just morally debased.

4. Conservatives live in the past . . .
liberals live in the future.

Of course, it's not possible to live in either, but the past is gone and will never come back. The future, however, is going to happen.

5. Conservatives
Conservatives are great about things that impact other people, but not them. As long as their lifestyles aren't threatened, they're on the bandwagon. Yet they're very liberal in their own personal lives. William Bennet lectures everyone on moral values - yet his own life is a wreck (Catholic divorced gambler). Conservatives also move in lock-step with other conservatives. They've a cohesive pact and parrot one another. Conservatives are less tolerant of differing opinions. Should you disagree you either hate American, hate Bush and/or grossly uninformed, (and probably need to spend three hours a day being "Hannitized").

Liberals out-smart themselves. They're not cohesive and represent various points-of-view - so many it boggles the mind. They self destruct, going off on social tangents that have little or no bearing on political facts-of-life. Liberals see a much higher calling and don't mind being right even for a lost cause. Liberals don't march in lock-step - they wander.

Anne Coulter is a Conservative - she thinks Liberals lie and commit treason (for NOT being conservative (Republican)). Conservatives tend to be mean spirited and have simple solutions to complex problems.

7. Here's the "Liberals Like Christ" view:
Conservatives fight for freedom, justice and opportunity (i.e. privileges) for themselves alone (i.e. what they view as their group or class).

Liberals fight for freedom, justice and opportunity for those most in need of them because they identify with the whole of human kind and treasure everything that impacts on mankind as a whole, like the environment, world peace, and world government.

We show why Liberals have so much to be proud of in contrast to Conservatives at http://www.LiberalsLikeChrist.Org/Liberals .

See what great things those who have discovered our site are saying about it at http://www.LiberalsLikeChrist.Org/testimonials.htm

9. my problem with your views...
People have a right to be free and do as they please as long as their actions do not harm others rights to also be free.

My view of what constitutes harm may be different from yours.

Our taxes should be extremely conservative when spent and used only to educate people, and protect them from losing their rights.

I believe taxes should also be used to help people who can't work or don't make enough money to feed their families. Education alone isn't enough.
