Can someone explain why Accountants are giving more $ to the Repukes now?
http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.asp?Ind=F11

70% to 29% in 2002? Are they insane? Republicans are terrible at balancing books. They can't budget for shit either. So why are Accountants solidly in the Repuke camp now when it comes to contributions?

It used to be a 50/50 proposition which is, I guess, understandable but what's going on now is mind boggling.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

3. Oversight
They know the Republicans are less likely to investigate accountants. Accounting these days is about how much you can get away with.

4. My guess is to protect their asses
If you do drugs or spit on the sidewalk in America, beware...go to jail and stay for years. If you can successfully fuck over thousands of people, you get access to the White House. They don't want anyone to start making laws that keep them honest...and they need that "touch of larceny" to be employed by the big boys.

6. Arthur Andersen/Enron/Worldcom backlash would much more likely
redound to Dems' benefit, and as others have said, lead to much tighter regulation of accounting industry if we take back the government. Not too bright of them to be this transparent, though. If we can shout it from the rooftops (admittedly tricky without cooperation from news media), it just underscores the "Republicans are crooks" message.
