Anyone see John Kerry playing a Taylor acoustic guitar
on C-SPAN a few minutes ago (repeat from Thursday)? He has some really good classical licks. I was very impressed. A man of many hidden talents. I am a Dean supporter, but anyone that can play guitar that well needs a second look! Anyone know what musical instruments the other Dem. candidates play, if any?

1. Yes! He's very accomplished, relaxed and humorous.
The 5th Beatle! There's another thread in GD where we're discussing this.

3. I don't think so
It was a nylon string classical with a cutaway (and also piezoelectric pickups). I did not catch the model, but Kerry sounded very good playing it.

6. 1300 bucks
Does that tell you what model?

The campaign should buy it, then auction it off.

7. I don't know
but Taylor is the "cadillac" of acoustic guitars. Very nice, but very expensive. My brother, who is the professional musician in the family, has one.

9. I don't know if I'd call them Cadillacs
They cost a little less than Martins and a lot less than many handmade brands, certainly less than a custom guitar like an Olson.

But Taylors are wonderful guitars. I'm looking at a model 714 my own self to replace the two Takamines I currently use live.

10. I have one
An early model. It's about 9 years old now. Plain old dreadnaught style. Awesome guitar.
