1. Chalabi the spy for Iran |
|
am following this closely - a whole lot of confusion - but it looks very, very bad. In short the DIA had intel folks working in an office (and sharing info?) with the Chalabi colleague who headed intel for the Iraqi National Congress - this guy has run to Iran. Worse it was known to intel that he had previous ties with Iran intelligence. More points - one of the big charges said in the initial coverage was irrefutable evidence (that Chalabi denies) that Chalabi met directly with a top Iranian intel person - who - may (or stronger) have already been involved in covert operations against the US in the past. Another concern is that the info passed (by Chalabi's guy now in Iran) could put Americans (troops?!) in harms way...
Implication - info used about US plans - by Iranians to what... work with insurgents (who the news and BUSH even last night say(s) are getting more and more sophisticated in their attacks). Not saying this is what is happening - but this is the potential beneath the surface. In which case, THIS is the biggest scandal.
For those not already reading it - go to www.warandpiece.com - veteran journalist keeping track of the stories - read her entries from yesterday and today. HUGE, huge and potentially devastating story.
