2. Done. Kerry still 38%
I voted for Kerry. Actually, I should have voted neither because I think Iraq is going to be a mess even after Kerry gets elected.

3. I voted neither. Is that what I was supposed to do?
Because I don't see a whole lot of difference in Kerry's plan from Bush's.

25. Yes! I wish Kerry would use it and quip
with things like "It's good to know the President agrees with me" and "Nice to see he's taking my advice."

10. You mean, except that Bush doesn't mean his?
See, Bushes have a long history of doing this. HW did it to Clinton, too. It's called positioning, and it's why you always wait for your opponent to lay out his plan, first.

What Bush did is take Kerry's plan and word his own plan the same way. That undercuts Kerry. Bush HW kept doing that to Clinton on economic policy. It failed, because ultimately HW did nothing, and people noticed.

The difference is, when Kerry says he will hand power over to the UN, he will do it. Bush means he will just do something that gives the appearance of doing it without actually doing anything.

That makes Kerry's plan a little better. Not much, he should withdraw before he's finished reading his oath of office, but a little.

13. There's just one problem with the "turn it over to the UN" plan.
They don't want it and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poll.

Nobody wants the mess Bush has created and we are deluding ourselves if we think otherwise. While they might be more sympathetic if Kerry replaces Bush in January it's a long way from sympathy to putting troops on the ground. And there's a clock ticking. We are running out of troops and not acting as if we are going to need more.

It will vindicate the UN and humble us. They'll do it gladly.

32. "They'll do it gladly"
I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. We're talking about UN member nations willing to clean up the mess we made after we thumbed our nose at them; willing to put their boys in harm's way in a place that has had it with foreign OCCUPIERS PERIOD.

If you're right that would be great but sorry, I think it's wishful thinking.

Edited on Tue May-25-04 08:04 AM by jobycom
"Better" means the better of two. Not three. Who has a better plan means which of these two plans is better.

Kerry's plan sucks, too, but it is "better" than Bush's, meaning it is the better plan. "Neither" is not a legitimate option in English speaking countries.

7. 151883 votes and still Kerry 38% and Bush 34%
I don't think we can move it much. And I bet it has been freeped.

Still, more people think that Kerry has a better plan.

As James Carville said: "Bush is going down...down...down"

People finally realize how incompetent he really is. People who voted for him should be VERY embarrassed.

17. The quintessential difference in bush;s and kerry's plans
You see, in the case of bushsucks*, his plan is what he says he's going to do. In kerry's case, it's what he's going to do.

34. Probably a bunch of DU'ers.
...who think cutting and running is an acceptable alternative. Sure, leave 10% of the world's oil under the control of some whacko ayatolla or worse, al Qaida. That's better than the status quo (or even the status quo ante under Saddam Hussein) HOW?

Like it or not, Kerry (I'm being optimistic) will have to deal with Iraq. Bush made the mess on our behalf, and we will have to clean it up. Otherwise, we look like pure shit.
