18. The only suggestion I would have is...

to ask them why they show "taped news" over and over and seem oblivious to what's happening NOW..

case in point.. yesterday there were apparently EXPLOSIONS outside or near United states bases in Iraq, and other that Sky news, we saw NOTHING about it here.. And why is the fact that soldiers do not have enough WATER being covered more on US news??

They seem to find ample time to show interviews over and over and over and we had AllAhhnold All the Time Saturday TV..

We can get the glitz & glam stuff on any number of media outlets, but we COUNT on CNN & the like to tell us what's going on NOW !!!

I have been watching Lou's transformation with amusement. It seems obvious to me that CNN is trying to appeal to younger demographic group.

And who better to represent the highly desireable youth audience? Who is the king of cool when it comes to hip, politically aware, computer literate, consumer oriented cutting edge 18-25 demographics? SYMBOLMAN!! You have been tapped by the powers that be to represent the GenY.

If you get anymore cool, we'll have to turn the heat up!

This is so encouraging to see the internet's leftwing activists getting airtime on the cable networks.

Be sure and remind Lou that you have a larger and more activist audience than he does. And that you aren't anyone else's mouthpiece!

Okay, so you were reduced to one sentence. Did I blink and miss it? I had the whole show on, and I missed ya.

Firstly, i congratulate you and your efforts to get the message out.

Second, I'm glad you alerted the folks here to tune in. But it's important to keep in mind how much interviews, feature, puff pieces are whittled down. And they're heavily edited.

I think you know I'm an actor (i'm the one that put Janeane Garofalo in touch with you); and while I'm not in her "stratosphere," I've learned enough about being interviewed on television and in print how little of what you think is "important" actually gets included in the final product.

And, especially in today's corporate-dominated, Bush-cowed and controlled media, it's amazing you were even allowed on the show, unfortunately.

Sometimes editing, or whittling down your airtime or your comments not only result in you being short-changed, but actually in misquoting you, or putting quotes together that make you come off in an entirely different light.

I don't mean to preach here. I know your TPTM radio show is picking up, and I'm hoping your overall media profile is, as well. I've been wildy misquoted in ROLLING STONE Magazine, and egregiously misrepresented in Soap Opera Digest due to some choice re-positioning of certain statements I made.

In a less malevolent way, I belong to the top classical theatre company in Southern California. CNN was doing a piece on the rising popularity of Shakespeare in film and onstage. They sent a camera crew over to the 1300-seat theatre where we were performing CYMBELINE, and I was playing the male lead. They spent HOURS with us, filming backstage, and even had us run thru the major battle scene that had virtually all 28 of us fighting, myself doing the Braveheart thing, fighting with staff and sword, in a loincloth, covered in blood. I couldn't wait to see myself as such on CNN!

They even sat us down for an interview, and spent about 20 minutes asking questions about our approach to Shakespeare. I alerted family and friends across the country to watch for me on CNN. Although I was a veteran of several soap operas and so very "over" being on TV, much less telling my family about it, I was thrilled with the prospect of being featured on national television doing what is actually my main passion with regard to acting: performing Shakespeare, and TALKING ABOUT IT!

Nevertheless, the segment aired, the whole report was maybe 3 minutes, mostly featuring Leo DiCaprio and Gwyneth Paltrow, clips of their moviess, and they only showed one four-second clip of our production; LITERALLY, it was a camera shot taken from the wings, of one of our spear-carrying bit players rushing out onto the stage during the climactic battle scene. That was it! No interview, nothin'!

Anyway, hope this showbiz "vet" has offered up some valuable insight, as you continue to venture out into the "mainstream" media.
