peace in the M.E?...how bout' we stop selling both sides weapons?
there was colon bowell on t.v. speaking to a group of young israelis and palestinians who work for peace. just hours after the latest suicide bombings this morning. he spoke of the need for both sides to just simply stop killing each other, as if those magic words would do the trick. for a couple moments he seemed most animated making this point, and his voice started taking on the tone of genuine sincerity. very convincing unless one realizes it's all bullshit.

the u.s. doesn't want peace between these two ancient feuding factions. there's just too much money being made from both sides. while we pretend to fret and weep about the turmoil there, we sell the arabs and jews in the region all the killing tools they could possibly want. and this is called being an honest broker.

doesn't this strike you as slightly unsavory and slightly hypocritical? even demonic? to shake hands and make big public statements about peace, and then sell them both BILLIONS in weapons every year.

america isn't the only nation that sells weapons to anyone with the price, but they are the largest supplier in the world. just do a search about how much money we made last year in weapons sales. very staggering indeed. it's something most folks don't realize or talk about, like u.s. imperialism stretching back hundreds of years, in almost every corner of the globe. millions dead from our fine weaponry, which we will sell to any madman or despot with the price, including saddam, and osama.

we sell weapons to the israelis, and to countless arab nations who surely supply the palestinians. the government sends it's citizenry into panic attacks claiming that saddam will supply crazy,'freedom hating, extremists with bombs, rockets and guns. but we do it all the time.

if this really were a christian nation like everyone believes, we would not be in the business of selling killing machinery of every ghastly type to anyone with the dough. i don't recall any scripture where jesus called for peace between nations while supplying them with weapons of mass destruction.

1. Corporations are against "weapons free zones" in the 3rd world
Or any other place.

This was proposed in the 50's and 60's - and went nowhere.

The Brits or the French or the USSR will sell if we do not - completely ignoring the idea of an agreement that no one sell

And if this is pointed out they say - yes - but folks will smuggle weapons in -

As if a Tank or plane or bomb can be easily hidden in a world where we track small tubes requested by Iraq.

Corporate ethics - at least the US Corporation and media ethics - are just excuses for the rich.
