Parallel-Spiro/Dick?
Prior to Nixon stepping away from the White House his vice president, Spiro Agnew resigned and was replaced by Gerald Ford who then became president. I don’t think that the GOP leadership want Cheney as president and a possible future scenario is that history is going to repeat. Cheney resigns in disgrace over corruption charges and is replaced, Bush pardons him and the rest of the crew and steps in the Marine One to take his leave to Crawford. This would allow the GOP to place their new candidate in the White House.

Stranger things have happened. It may not play out like this but History has a way of repeating especially for those who are ignorant of history – Lord knows they ain’t many more ignorant of history then this bunch.

The March 5, 2003 e-mail, from an Army Corps of Engineers official, said that top Pentagon official Douglas Feith got the job of shepherding the contract, according to the newsweekly Time that hits newsstands Monday

Snip - "As vice president, I have absolutely no influence of, involvement of, knowledge of in any way, shape or form of contracts led by the Corps of Engineers or anybody else in the federal government," Cheney told NBC's "Meet the Press" in September, Time said

1. There are numerous similarities.....
both Agnew and Cheney rank among the most repulsive specimens of humanity to hold that high of an office. Both were hateful men, with a vicious, angry personality. Both were common criminals in pin stripes. Both were better suited for prison than the oval office. Yet Cheney, in my opinion, is a far more dangerous villan: he controls bush to a very large extent, where Agnew had little influence on Nixon, having been picked for entirely different reasons.
