9. Well, there's an abuse right there, Mr. Cheney

Under the USA PATRIOT Act, librarians can be interrogated and forced to produce patrons' reading lists without a warrant and without probable cause. Those librarians are also, under the Act, forbidden to discuss any contact from government agents.

So, simply by asking the question, Cheney knows that any librarian who speaks up about government snooping is putting himself or herself at risk under the Act.

I'm sure it is easy enough for him to find the Americans that have been locked up only on one person's say so without due process that is guaranteed all Americans by the US Constitution. Also the constitution guarantees a right to privacy in our homes and papers. Patriot Act nullifies that.

The so-called Patriot Act makes it illegal to disclose those abuses. Whether it's bookstores, libraries, or internet service providers, warrantless searches, now authorized in violation of the 4th Amendment are done secretly and it is a crime to disclose those actions by Federal police.

The chilling effect on First Amendment rights is unbelievable. Abuse doesn't have to be demonstrated to exert a chilling effect. The lawyers are gagged while the central government propagandizes their cause with deliberately misleading and deceitful statements.

in different prisons, have not filed charges on them, will not allow them an attorney, and will not allow their family to see them? Did they release all those guys? Have they filed charges against them yet?

Oh, and now they do not need a search warrant to come into our homes as that slows their processes down? They have given local police this freedom to search anyone without a warrant.
