1. I would suggest you follow John Kerry's example.....
He realizes this is a marathon and there are 5 more months to go and he is remaining positive. :)

3. This joke picked me up today, and got me into an argument
with a Rolling Thunder dude.

On November 3rd, George W is very depressed having just lost the election.

To console himself he visits his trophy room. Then in a moment of doubt and despair over whether he had made all the wrong choices by listening to the Vice-President, he sees his favorite gift from the troops: Saddam’s pistol.

He takes the gun and points it to his head…

Just then Cheney enters the room and yells, "No, George, don't do it!!"

"Shut up Dick," he says, "You're next."

7. Losing the vegan vote
http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/news/opinion/8807461.htm?ERIGHTS=8545060255929406638philly:

I AM A conservative Republican on most issues.

But I can't donate to the GOP or vote for President Bush based on his - and the party's - stance on animal rights.

I am a vegan and a proud member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I'm disappointed that the Bush administration has done nothing to improve animals' lives.

I saw a video of President Bush at a campaign stop during the 2000 election. In it, a reporter asks "What do you think about PETA?"

Then-Gov. Bush responded sarcastically, "I'm glad I ate my bacon for breakfast today."

....

I will not be voting for John Kerry because I disagree with too many of his views, and I could never vote for a pro-choice candidate. But I will not vote for President Bush either because I can't vote for someone so anti-animal.

11. here's a convo I'd like to relate:
The young red-headed guy at the diner we've been going to for 8 years was talking to one of his regulars (African-American, if it matters). He makes some comment about gas prices and the customer say: "well, that's your boy Bush!"

The guy got defensive, but in a keeping-it-friendly way. (he really is a nice guy) He made some comment like: "can't blame me, all white men between 25 and 50 vote Republican... "

"not all of 'em" I chimed in from my booth. Sure made the guy at the counter smile.

The proprietor of the diner then dropped the bomb: this election, he's voting for Nader. This is a former Bush voter.

Somewhat stunned, I said: "really? Nader?"

"Yeah. I don't like either of these parties."

So there you have it. To him, Nader only represents rejection of both parties. Nader's progressive politics were not even on this guy's radar.

What could I say? I commended him on his choice!

I don't know to many conservative PETA members...

Out of curiosity why do you consider yourself Republican?

10. truthfully, I'd say step away for a bit. everyone has to do it.
Like Kerry on vacation, take some time off, try not to worry about politics even if it's a few weeks. It will all be there when you come back - I promise.

We are 5 months out, replenish yourself while there is still time to make a late push.

I was seriously burned out and depressed for a while, because there is only so much fight in ya before you have to take a breather.

19. blood on his hands, pain in others hearts
bush has blood on his hands. he has sent americans to their deaths without a clear or honest reason why. americans by the millions have diminished lives because of this president's pro-haves policies ( the have-nots be damned). when you think of getting tired think of that mother who has lost her only child in the iraq "war". think of the marriages failing because of the piss-poor economy. and think of this dad who must now ration my kids food. bush is a blood-tasting, power-wannabe who must be put in his place.

20. Read This
One sunny day in 2005

One sunny day in 2005 an old man approached the
White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue,
where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He
spoke to the U.S. Marine standing guard and
said, "I would like to go in and meet with
President Bush."

The Marine looked at the man and said, "Sir,
Mr. Bush is no longer president and no longer
resides here."

The old man said, "Okay" and walked away.

The following day, the same man approached the
White House and said to the same Marine, "I
would like to go in and meet with President
Bush." The Marine again told the man, "Sir, as
I said yesterday, Mr. Bush is no longer
president and no longer resides here." The man
thanked him and, again, just walked away.

The third day, the same man approached the
White House and spoke to the very same U. S.
Marine, saying "I would like to go in and meet
with President Bush."

The Marine, understandably agitated at this
point, looked at the man and said, "Sir, this
is the third day in a row you have been here
asking to speak to Mr. Bush. Ive told you
already that Mr. Bush is no longer the
president and no longer resides here. Dont you
understand?"

The old man looked at the Marine and said, "Oh,
I understand. I just love hearing it."

The Marine snapped to attention, saluted, and
said, "See you tomorrow."

21. My amazing weekend...I'm energized
I've been where you are Matcom. Today I'm so enthusiastic because of this weekend. I'm amazed at the enthusiasm to defeat *.

I'm volunteering for Dems in my area. Our area is the Democratic base. We've been working events to register voters. We have too many volunteers. People who have never been active in politics are calling to volunteer. A few stories of encounters with new voters:

We were gathering volunteers and teaching them how to register voters before a community event. A woman stood and stared at us for a long time. I went up a few times to ask if we were blocking the business or something else. She was a native Spanish speaker and her English was limited. Finally she approached us and discussed voting. She is a citizen, has never voted, didn't know when the election was, but wants to register and vote to get "this criminal out of the WH." At our table, a older woman approached in her church clothes and changed her party registration so that she didn't get 'any more of pictures of that moron in the mail.' We did tell her that she may be on their mailing list even after changing party but she still registered Dem. A 71 year old man who had never registered decided to because of *. A woman who had not voted since 68 registered to defeat *.

I've never seen this before. Many of these folks use the language we here at DU use to describe *. Some had questions about Kerry, but most just hated this maladministration.
