I am so sorry for humanity. Religious dogmatism makes people hate
instead of love. Scientific analysis and discovery has not impacted people's prejudices at all. A caller on the open phone section on C-Span said that homosexuals are spending money to propagandize on TV.

3. that caller is using one of the RW's favorite tactics
accuse 'the enemy' of doing precisely what it is you are doing, and (for some unfathomable reason) people will believe you.

The RW Christian zealots are the kings of using TV as their propaganda tool of choice.

4. Nah, it's just an excuse for people who already do hate
Not that I'm religious, I just don't see any difference between people who are and people who aren't. People use religion (or science or political ideology or whatever) to justify what they want to do anyway, good or bad.

I saw a poll that only 28% believe gay marriages should be allowed. It seems like every time people learn to quit hating one group, they turn their bigotry elsewhere. It's a neverending battle. You can't stop hate, you can only refocus it, I guess.

5. Dumber and meaner.
The human race is both dumber and meaner than most people think it is.
It is quite likely that the 300,000 year tenure of homo sapiens will be a new record for the briefest existence of any species.
