initiative? Anybody here knows about that?
PAT ROBERTSON???? THIS IS ANOTHER CRAZY THING RWingers are doing. PAT ROBERTSON????

Corrected from 500 million to 5000 thousand (by input from another poster here) from millions to thousands. It still should not be done. Paterson is a scourge on rational thought and a corrupted mind.

1. And just think how much GOP boosting Pat will do for that money...
...what an interesting way of circumventing campaign finance and seperation of church and state. Bush is a crook and a traitor.

3. $500 THOU, not Million
I think the caller is off by a factor of a thousand, unless Robertson's private empire is doing some major fund-sucking via other channels (which I wouldn't completely discount, but I'd need some evidence)...

Robertson Charity Wins 'Faith-Based' Grant
By a Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, October 3, 2002; Page A02

Early this year, Pat Robertson denounced the Bush administration's "faith-based" initiative, warning that the program is a "Pandora's Box" that could make legitimate religious charities dependent on government and finance cults that "brainwash" prospective adherents.

Today, Operation Blessing International, a Virginia Beach charity created by Robertson, is to get $500,000 in the first wave of grants to be distributed under the faith-based initiative, which gives federal money to religious organizations that provide social services.

6. But what did the CALLER say?
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 09:01 AM by JHB
If the caller said 500 Million, you should't change what _they_ said, although you can provide a correction. People had already responded to your initial title; a change like that changes the entire context of their responses. (500K is Pat's "fair" share of the faith-based spoils. 500M is Iraq-contractor scale payola).

But you can still be outraged that Pat gets money for his empire.

7. Thats not that much
compared to the money that Bush gave to Bill Bennett and other home school companies to promote "Home schooling". Bush went around congress and gave away 77 million just to promote home schooling.
