Bush is giving a fascist speech to the Air Force Academy graduates
He said Iraq was just a test. He's out to "democratize" the Middle East.

1. Wonderful...
Why doesn't he just call it a "Crusade"?

He apparently didn't read his history books either.

3. CNNI just gave a recap of the highlights
As you might imagine, "terrorists," "terror" and "killers" were in every recapped sentence.

Bush even mentioned Ronald Reagan. How's that for a glittering generality? Every propaganda ploy imaginable was used in this speech.

However, the applause was not a resounding one.

Why wouldn't they see it in the ME?
They can probably get clips of it, if nothing else.

I don't think he cares, frankly.

6. A test?
Can anyone tell me who's grading us on this one?

Do you think we'll regroup and try a different approach in North Korea? Like maybe studying up for it?

We're so fucked with this guy in office.

11. Yes
"Can anyone tell me who's grading us on this one?"

Same people who took it. What do you think those think-tanks in Washington are for?

"Do you think we'll regroup and try a different approach in North Korea? Like maybe studying up for it?"

That's why it's a test. You can't just jump into a world-wide Pax Americana.

This is what these people do.

That's one of the few things that he's been honest about. And it wasn't even his idea. Thank you Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, etc, etc, etc.

13. Do you ever watch clips of Hitler speeches? It was like that
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 01:09 PM by lebkuchen
but at a lower decibel and with less gesturing.

He also said we will take the fight to the terrorists first.

Preemption has just become acceptable standard US foreign policy.

today, I was gardening listening to NPR and on the noon time show out of WBUR (here &now), they briefly interviewed a journalist from Jordan. He was responding to *'s rose garden news conference, held the other day in acknowledgement of the formation of the Iraqi transitional government. * described it's formation as a "game changer". The reporter said very succinctly, "this is not a game." I thought, "bingo." * has never once in his life suffered repercussions for his idiotic behavior. He see's it as nothing more than a game despite all the innumerable casualties.

The journalist also went on to say that there were and are many other ways to inspire democracy in the MidEast. It never happens through the barrel of a gun.

16. "Syria is pointed like a dagger at the heart of America!"
"Americans in Jordan long to be free of their oppressive Jordanian slave masters!"

"Look! These Iranian soldiers tried to burn the Reichstag, um, I mean, the Capitol!"

"These (dead) enemy combatants fired on our soldiers! Fortunately our brave troops shot them dead! No need to look at them, they're wearing Iranian Army uniforms! What more do you need? They do NOT look like guys who were Gitmo prisoners last week!"

was it THAT kind of speech?

You must have heard us say, "Syria and Iran are next."

Note that the army was just informed that stop-loss has now been extended even to military members with less than 90 days prior to separation if their unit is going to be deploying.

Which unit isn't?

Units in Iraq that have been extended to mid-August or thereabouts (1AD, for example) have had their separation dates extended to mid-November. That will not only make the enlistment numbers look high before the election, if the election fix really is in, what do you wanna bet some November surprise takes place, "forcing" the extention of that 90 day separation period to infinity? Who in the army, reserves or otherwise, has been able to separate in the past six months? They're never going to be able to leave, and that is becoming obvious to nearly every military family.

These WH thugs are f*cking slick.
