Conversation at the Bookstore

I was waiting at the information desk at a local bookstore, which as it happens is surrounded by displays of political books. The couple behind me was talking about various titles (given the close quarters I couldn't help but overhear) - he would say oh, there is that one by Clarke, or there is the House of Saudi. She kept saying, no, no, no.

I was ready for a heated discussion, and I turned and looked at her in the eye, and said, "I heard that one was supposed to be very good." She said - "I don't want to know..." I said oh, and she continued, ..."anything else about him, I know all I need to know, I knew all I needed to know in 2000. If he is re-elected, I don't know what we will do, I really don't."
