CNN/MSNBC Now: John Kerry Press Conference (4:03 pm edt)
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 03:18 PM by VolcanoJen
Tune in and dish!

ON EDIT: as of 4:11 pm edt, only MSNBC is still carrying the conference live.

SECOND EDIT: at about 4:12 pm edt, MSNBC also dropped live coverage.

CNN went to a Condi Rice interview with Judy Woodruff. MSNBC went to commercial.

Anyone require further proof of the current lack of a Free Press in America? 45 minutes of Chimpy's Air Force Academy speech; 8 minutes of Kerry's news-breaking live press conference. :grr:

2. Looking very presidential... calls attention to Guard being turned into...
... active duty soldiers. Volunteers are no longer volunteers. It is imperative that when the President travels abroad this week, he exercise the necessary diplomacy to bring new forces and resources into this commitment to relieve the burden on American troops.

He's still in opening statement mode right now....

3. 1st question about the Chalabi allegations
Kerry: I urged that we not be supportive of Chalabi's efforts... this administration bought into Chalabi "hook, line and sinker."

19. For about 7 minutes, CNN showed him ACTUALLY ANSWERING...
... questions from the media. I don't think he received the questions in advance, either, if you can believe that! It was freaky, and foreign, and it made me uncomfortable!! I'm not used to leaders answering, like, questions, and stuff.

CNN must have freaked out too, because they broke from the live press conference to go to a taped interview of Condi Rice, by Judy Woodruff, no less.

It's just maddening, sometimes, isn't it, rucky? For a few minutes, I felt like I was watching something presidential. :-(

8. Question: Is Iraq the main front of the war on terror.. how many years?
Kerry insists that Iraq has been linked to the war on terror because of Bush missteps, and insists that nobody in the intelligence organization worldwide believed any link between Iraq and Al-Qaeda. He says Americans were misled...

Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 03:28 PM by elperromagico
are worthy of hours of coverage and in-depth discussion, but the man who could be running this country for the next four or eight years merits less than ten minutes.

Media. You gotta love it. :eyes:

25. Well, the Scott Peterson trial should suck the oxygen out over the summer.
Jacko's trial starts the week after the RNC Convention. Not sure about Kobe.

As Bartcop is prone to say, "I'm so old, I remember when we had a free, investigative press."

16. Yes. On a show called "INSIDE POLITICS," they're showing Condi.
Kerry, Bush's only true opposition, is likely still giving a live, newsbreaking press conference, but CNN is hoisting upon us Condi's apologies (delivered via a Woodruff softball interview, no less) instead.

:grr:  :grr:

Remember the free press?

18. Guess CNN and MSNBC
didn`t find this press conference important enough to carry through its conclusion. Let`s face it.....they`re busy with Scott Peterson updates and photo ops of Bush lying to America. Perhaps Kerry is just too hard for them to follow since he speaks in complete sentences instead of the usual ....killin` killers...new strategery.

So, they cut away from the live press conference after only 7-8 minutes, but lucky for us "I Love Candy" Crowley was there, taking notes, so she could tell us what Kerry actually said! She's on "Inside Politics" now, with the dish!

Oh, this is priceless... I'll edit the post to let you know what Candy wants us to know. :D

ON EDIT: My Candy Transcription (paraphrased slightly for your pleasure, thanks, Tivo!)!

CANDY: Judy, it was an Iraq-centric news conference, just as the president prepares to go oversees. He said that what we really need are resources and manpower from other countries, to stop what Kerry called "a back door draft," referring to the National Guard. He said, yes, he thought the president did have the leadership. (???) He did think the president could pull together the alliance and get boots on the ground. (???) Kerry said he made a determiniation that the US should not be relying on Chalabi, and that they fell for him "hook line and sinker." Kerry said if we gave other countries some say-so in reconstruction, they would help. He reiterated his support for Muslim troops on the ground in Iraq, once construction starts to go well. Basically, Judy, an Iraq-centric news conference. He's off to another speech tomorrow about national security, in the battleground state of Missouri.

JUDY:All right, Candy Crowley, traveling with John Kerry. John Kerry getting in a word edgewise, as the President pretty much dominates the headlines the headlines these days, with the news out of Iraq! END SEGMENT

Amazing, isn't it, my friends? Kerry gets a word in edgewise, insists our dear Judy, when she damn well knows that her own program zipped his mouth shut after 8 minutes.

"Kerry said he made a determiniation that the US should not be relying on Chalabi, and that they fell for him "hook line and sinker.""

Not the way Kerry meant it I think. Kerry meant the ADMIN fell for it hook line and sinker. Kerry was NOT fooled nor was the US! Kerry said as much didn't he? It was the neo con idiots who fell for this. She's implying Kerry fell for it too.

Disgusting.

30. I just did it. It does not really help, I know, but at least I can get
rid of some of my frustration. I sent this to MSNBC (and something similar to CNN:)
SLANT, SLANT, SLANT.
You let Bush appear on your network for hours and hours, babbling along in incomplete sentences. Then Senator Kerry gives a press conference and you give him all of 7 minutes, and interrupt it for advertising and then Scott Peterson??????????? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?? This is a presidential candidate, please do the country a favor and let people judge Kerry by what he says and how he says it instead of sound bites from talking heads.

31. Well CNN and MSNBC pulled coverage probably when
they got the call from the White House to pull the coverage.

Just like with the kid who was bored to death with Bush's speech a couple of months ago--the White House called CNN and told them to say it was not a true clip of what happened.

It's not a stretch to believe the White House called and told them to pull Kerry's speech.

Anything is believable at this point.

32. Stop it, Lex.
You're scaring me... and you're right, too.

I keep thinking of that kid on Letterman, as you mentioned, and also Keith Olbermann showing the world the "Help Us To Smear Joe Wilson" emails, that came straight from White House.

I know the bias is out there, but when its just so obviously shoved into everyone's faces, I remain shocked, and in denial somewhat.

35. BOYCOTT CNN...
It's time to end their influence over these boards.

Their importance is inflated by your viewership.

Let their sponsors know you won't buy their products if they advertise there.

It's time to fight back against the Corporate Media.
