Wow. Our Democracy for America meet-up grew more tonight.
I believe 5 were new. In this area this is great. I believe the gov would be proud of us. And the local paper did not even have it listed in the activities.

Also two of us had letters to the editors printed today. We are averaging about 3 a week just from folks in our meet-up group. I had my seventh printed.

More of our members are active in the DEC than before as well.

3. And the good part is that 3 were DEC leaders who were NOT with us before.
They are beginning to speak out now and be more activist.

5. I think your area has them still. Do this.

Go to www.meetup.org
You may have to leave out the dash. Fixed the link.

Seach by zip code. I believe Orlando still has several going strong.

8. Jeff Seeman spoke at mine
He is very good in person. He has a tough road to hoe but so did Nethercut in Washington to name one giant killer for the other side. We only have 3 meetups left in the greater Cleveland area but the one I went to had quite a few people and we have some off night meetings as well.

11. Jeff is not afraid to speak out for what he believes.
I still remember that video from the news there when he led a rally against Bush with the bullhorn in the rain. LOL That was great.

10. Our meetup in Austin was bigger than last month too
Every month I've seen some new faces. There's also a growing bunch of people who I see at the Kerry meetups as well as the DFT and at other events around town.

I'm looking forward to the DFT caucus at the state convention in a couple of weeks and meeting and swapping notes with other activists from around the state.

12. Our congressional, Dean-inspired candidate got to talk to Dean on the call
Our group was one chosen for the conference call. Jeff got to talk to him in person. He informed him that his primary opponent is virtually a Republican....they are good at pulling stuff like that in Florida.
Our candidates website:
www.jeffsiemerforcongress.com

He spent a whole evening with us last month. Handsome and very intelligent guy. First time running. We had a lovely evening.

14. Portions of a pep mail from our most avid writer in our group.
This guy and his wife are two of the most profilic letter writers to our paper and the Tampa Tribune as well. He is one who keeps us pepped up. Sharing a part of his mail today:

SNIP..."Hi,
We've had a pretty good month in May.
1. The poll numbers have turned in our favor.
2. We are now dominating the "Letters to the Editor" and getting stronger.
3. Stephanie Herseth has captured a Republican-held congressional seat in South Dakota, now making the "magic numbers" 11 - 2 -1.
4. A Federal judge has declared the Partial Birth Bas as unconstitutional.
This puts our start for the month of June on the "high side."

SNIP..."Was the month of May so good that many of you think that we have already won?
Poll numbers are the most fickle of beasts, that can change in a heartbeat.
Our goal to replace 11 more congressional reps, 2 Senators, and a President will not be a cake walk, and the ruling on the Partial Birth Ban is certain to be appealed to a court more sympathetic to the "Theocons" (Theocratic Conservatives)."

SNIP..."WE HAVE NOT WON!
In fact, "We have only begun to fight".
I was rejuvenated and re-inspired to bigger and better things by this meeting tonight. The energy during the conference call with Gov. Dean was electric.
We've begun to move in exciting new directions, but we need your help and a new rededication to our mission, so that in a few short months from now we CAN relax, smile, and truthfully say, "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"
.END SNIP

He is a Republican who will vote Democratic this time. I found this letter started my day off just right. We have an amazing group.

Keep in touch until the winter.
