This is a good development for the following reasons:

1) It will distract from the prison scandal -- which the public will begin to forget about.

2) It will be seen as a sign that the president is holding people accountable for perceived intelligence failures.

3) Tenet likes Bush personally (far, far better than he liked Clinton) and is more likely to write a Clinton-bashing book that a Bush-bashing book.

4) Confirmation hearings are a great way for the GOP to showcase Democrat obstructionism and shrillness -- which will not play well with the public.

5) Confirmation hearings will distract from the 'Rat Convention and draw public attention, reducing any "bounce" Kerry would normally get -- because coverage of the convention will be reduced by coverage of hearings.

All and all, this is VERY good news.

Huh? You mean finally? Perceived? Tenet resigned. He was not fired. This is holding people accountable:“I told him I was sorry he’s leaving” – (Bush today)?

Lemme see….in recent months which books about Bush have been best seller’s, and which books were not? Think a publisher wants to do a Bash-Clinton when Bash-Bush is so much more profitable? If Tenet does write a book, I look forward to reading it. Too bad I’ll have to wait until AFTER the flippin’ election to do it. Oh, and the Kerry administration is going to have to vet it just like the Bush admin had to do with Clarke’s. Now how do you feel? Idiot.

Are you kidding? Not play well with a public that devours "Survivor" and "The bachelorette"? With the Chief Justice wearing his dress-up robes? Talk about blood lust. And not only confirmation hearings showcase "obstructionism and shrillness"…so do impeachment hearings! Just ask Oliver North, Adm. Poindexter, Liddy, Colson what it was like in front of committees. There will be no hearing because Bush will not nominate anyone for the position before the election because he is terrified of what may come out. For that same reason, he will not fire Rummy.

Sure of that? Wanna’ play “Bet the White House (and Senate)” on something like that? Hey!! We always said Bush might pull an “October Surprise”. Think this is what he had in mind?

All and all, this is VERY good news.
