With Tenet gone, the floodgates open

The buffer is now gone, and people are going to talk.

Many months ago we had discussions re: Plame and the CIA, and those of us who know CIA folks (either ex or current) said one thing over and over and over again:

Do not f*%k with the CIA.

They will NOT keep quiet now. I know it.

If you think Bush needed lawyers before, just hang on. Names are going to come out.

I am just now in the process of sending emails to various friends who still work in CIA - related sub-contractor positions. A firm I did IT work for some time ago was (before they sold to ManTech) run by two very high up ex - CIA guys. Their comments will be interesting - I'll see if I can get some "water cooler" stuff from their compatriots.

Back up The Felon Truck everyone - we've got new arrivals.

1. Actually, I think its the reverse
The floodgates which have been open, by CIA agents who are stirring the pot and trying to knock off the neo-cons, are now about to be shut down by SmirkCo's new CIA director, whoever that may be.

2. Remember bush1* still has loads of clout in the agency...
...perhaps this is the beginning of the crackdown. Plug those leaks! Circle the wagons! Don't let Junior testify!

4. Intel community has been lining up behind Kerry since before 9-11
Edited on Thu Jun-03-04 10:28 AM by blm
and more joined AFTER 9-11 knowing that Bush's negligence was to blame.

The Plame affair added to the growing line.

This election was destined to be a serious showdown between the good guys in the intel community who served the best interests of the American people and the Bush family loyalists at the CIA who protected the BFEE's interests.

This election showdown was over 30 years in the making. My money is on the good guys. Go Kerry.

10. my money is also on the good guys, however...
...I don't think the dark side is going to go quietly, and not because of their ideology. It's the money. It's the power. It's the influence. Nope, they will not go quietly into that good night. They'll be kicking, screaming and blowing up innocent people.

3. They won't stand for it
The anger that these guys feel re: the Plame outing is at about Mach 2 and growing. I make the argument that they stayed (somewhat) quiet to see if proper channels were going to be used, and if a real-live investigation was going to take place.

It didn't - and they're going to talk. I'm waiting for the first "high level official" to start it off.

5. I agree that it will be hard to shut down the career guys
I think Tenet was letting them do it with a wink and a nod. The new guy will be an enforcer

6. That's a question I've asked my "spook'" friends

I asked them how they are going to view Tenets successor - will he be seen as the new sheriff in town, or will he be seen as Poppy's Puppet, hand-picked to try and minimize damage and wall up the compound.

If it is the latter, then ALL HELL will break loose, I think.

Personally, I don't think there is one chance in a million that the new guy will be the sheriff...

7. I agree
Ironically, the CIA has been chosen to "take responsibility" for the bogus intelligence the NeoCons fabricated.

Bush has announced that he intends to continue to fully carry out the PNAC program. He can only do so now by pretending the CIA was at fault.

(Ultimately, it is not going to work. )

8. lesson not learned from the Nixon administration
you can only screw around with cia for so long until they decide to pull the plug. What Dim-son forgets is that the cia doesnt belong to him or his minions, they won't be loyal to a criminal president.
