NPR: Tenant resignation good for the chimp
On "Talk of the Nation", the pundits are saying that the Lie House will use today's news to distance themselves from blame for the WMD fiasco.... Was Tenant just burned out or a Rovian scapegoat?

1. scapegoat is what I've been thinking
Blame all the bad WMD intelligence on Tenet and Chalabi. It's not Bush's fault he believed idiots (even though other experts in his own administration were contradicting them at the time).

2. That's exactly what they will try and do...Kerry needs to get the spotligh
Kerry needs to make some news and talk about stability and remind people about Bush's promises that he has broken...he needs to get vocal or else the Chimp is going to succeed in dumping blame on Tenet.

Im starting to think that the Woodward book with the whole "slam dunk" quote was setting the stage for this.

3. It's a little late to escape blame
They should've gotten rid of Tenet months ago. The damage has been done. BTW, any administration that has a major figure forced to resign five months before an election is not an administration in good shape.

4. Tenet should have been terminated long ago . . .
for simple incompetence.

This competence issue is, IMO, more important and fundamental than the partisan concerns being expressed on this (and other) threads.
