Before Tennant resigned today, I have been getting the feeling that Cheney will be resigning before the repug convention. Oh wait, the convention is being held in New York, the perfect location for "America's Mayor" to step in as the new VP candidate, thus revitalizing the campaign. The message coming from the white house about the leaked email concerning cheney and halliburton is that everyone is taking very careful steps to say, "Not to the best of MY knowledge", and easy way of saying that Cheney did do this, but that I don't want to be viewed as covering up for him when the time comes.
For once, even though I am possibly giving this administration too much credit, to drop both Cheney and Tennent is genius strategy. This way all that is negative about the war (in the public's eye) will then be accounted for by resignations - thus leaving * left reaping the rewards, only to pick new people to head the CIA and be the VP who could be even worse than the two there before (spare us now!). Bush will be considered to have accounted for all the downfalls of his policy without having to face any consequences himself - brilliant for him and the neo-cons behind it.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid - lets hope so...
