Pat Robertson & Gary Aldrich On The Left Wing
Edited on Wed Aug-13-03 01:13 PM by khephra
NEWS ANALYSIS
The Hard Left is Mature and in Control of the Democratic Party

CBN.com – Gary Aldrich is a former FBI agent who served two presidents in the White House. In his best-selling book, "Unlimited Access," he exposed breaches in national security and the questionable behavior of former president Bill Clinton during his White House years. Aldrich joined Pat Robertson on "The 700 Club" to talk about his latest book, "Thunder on the Left: An Insider's Report on the Hijacking of the Democratic Party."

PAT ROBERTSON: Gary we welcome you back and ask, first of all, how does what you said in that previous book about Clinton and his crowd -- how does that relate to the one you've written now, this "Thunder on the Left."

GARY ALDRICH: Well, thanks so much for having me on Pat. The book that I have written now, "Thunder on the Left," does have a chapter inside, which does connect the terrorist activities of 2001 to the previous Clinton Administration. And as you might recall, I detailed in my first book how national security had taken a thumping by the Clinton Administration, who seemed to have a different worldview than most of us security personnel who had been assigned to the White House to help protect not only the president but national security as well.

ROBERTSON: Gary, what is the Left, you're talking about the Hard-Left. How would you define them, who are they?

ALDRICH: The Hard Left Pat are those people we were investigating back in the late 60s and 70s when the FBI was allowed to investigate the Marxists and Leninists who were attempting to grab onto, to get a position of influence in the Democratic Party. And then when Gerald Ford came into the presidency and followed by Carter, they basically took the FBI out of investigating these Hard Left individuals. Well the Hard Left has grown up now. They're no longer the New Left, they're the Hard Left and they have a stranglehold on the Democratic Party, which I detail in my book.

3. What a coupe a loonies
Man. I guess the Democratic Party being taken over by the "hard left" accounts for the shift to the right and pandering to the republicans that's taken place over the last couple of decades.

4. I swear, it's textbook projection!
Substitute "Neocon" for "Hard left" and "Republican Party" for "Democratic Party" and he's spot on!

But as it is, it's a complete joke (except to Robertson and his shorn-again flock of True Believers).

6. And we're paying attention to anything Robertson says BECAUSE...
Why? Obviously the guy's a lying projecting wingnut and deserves that we ignore him.

and sheep-like followers who vote based on what he's saying?

It's always good to know where the next attack is coming from on the Right, and paying attention to the new memes that Pat and Rush inject into the conservative audience is an imporant part of liberal activist work. It's always good to know where and when the next attack is coming.

At least it is IMO.

in B&N and flipped through it. He says, in contrast to the nasty stories he had heard about the far right, he found them sweet and welcoming and completely innocent of the sort of machinations that the hard left indulge in (not a quote, but it's close). :puke:
I'll bet they always welcome those willing to lie for them. The book was badly written, with a chapter with a title like: (Want to blame Bill Clinton for everything? I do.) Aldrich is a putz.

edit: adding this
"ALDRICH: Well this is a favorite political tactic of the left and that is to take the people who don't agree with them and marginalize them by calling them extremists. And I can give you just one good example of what I'm talking about. I can think of 12 significant conservative leaders in the country today, you being one of those people, and your chance of getting on major networks on a regular basis are virtually nil. When you look at the television programming that dominates American culture today, you'll rarely see a conservative spokesperson on any of those shows.

ROBERTSON: What about the conservatives? Are they fighting hard enough in your opinion?

ALDRICH: No they certainly are not. And I point out in my book something that I think you can relate to and that is, the conservative group that I've been a part of for the last five years could never be called "hard." I think the term "soft" -- "soft-hearted right" is the term I would like to use because we are very tolerant, we are Christians for the most part and we are tolerant. We are too forgiving of our political opponents' acts against us and that just encourages them to continue on."

SOFT HEARTED RIGHT!!??!! :puke:

14. Pat Robertson and his laughable logic
I, too, wish I could just see Pat Robertson as a person who I could sit back and watch with a hearty chuckle. Unfortunately, he and his ilk are poltical powerhouses, and have the power to move a lot of voters. I have heard this insult to the Christian religion a lot over the years. If you have gay days in Florida a hurricane may hit. A HURRICANE? IN FLORIDA? You surely jest! I heard them do a story on their "news" about Oregon's "assisted suicide" legislation. Their own news report listed as two provisions in the act: 1) the person seeking the "assisted suicide" had to be a resident of the state and 2) there was a certain way that the "suicide" was carried out, specifically, using a drug. And the response of Pat's sycophants? "Guess now we can all drag Grandpa out to Oregon and shoot him now." Pat and his buds don't need logic, they do not need truth, they do not need compassion. For them, what ever lies, illogic, and vitriol it takes to wrest control and establish a theocracy with them at the top is fair game.
