Question I want to hear Kerry asked
If you are elected, will you tell us what the hell has been happening the last four years?

Everything has been a constant lie. Bush lies, he classifies information for no reason, he releases explanations on everything that are so transparently false they evoke laughter. The whole damn four years has seemed like an extreme parody of "Yes, Minister."

If you are elected, will you investigate what Bush knew about Iraq, Abu Graib, the Taliban, Al Quieda, the Bin Ladens, the Niger document, Chalabi, 9-11 before, during and after, Enron, the California energy crisis, Cheney's energy task force, the stolen election, the 2002 elections, the anthrax attacks and the investigation into them, the fact that every target of the anthrax attack was a personal enemy of Bush and the neocons, Ken Hatfield's suicide, Cliff Baxter's suicide.... On and on.

I just want a list of Bush's lies and the truth laid out next to them, just for the sake of sanity.

1. You're assuming that Kerry would ever have access to that information.
Dream on.

Kerry can investigate all he wants. They've hid information before (the same bunch, in fact - Cheney, et al); there's nothing stopping them from doing it again.

3. What the heck are you talking about?
Kerry has the power of executive order and he can move mountains with that...including releasing what ever documents they tried to hide.

6. I'm sorry, but that's just naive.
If the documents no longer exist, how is Kerry going to release them?

Remember Enron? Arthur Andersen?

Think the same thing can't happen with government documents?

4. Then point out the holes
Investigate. When you find where something was destroyed, you give immunity to people who can help you recreate it. Bush has made enemies.

My original point was more on Bush's obfuscation than on Kerry investigating anything, but it brings to mind the rumors of Clinton's letting HW go. HW had lied, twisted and tainted the budget and labor numbers so completely that some people wanted him prosecuted. Dan Rather went on a mini crusade to expose Bush's "cooking the books." But ultimately, for a lot of reasons, I'm sure, HW and his crew were never pursued.

Contrast that to Reagan's scandals, when even during the Bush administration people investigated and pursued Reaganites for their open theft and graft. HUD, for instance, comes to mind. THere were other investigations. Reagan had more convictions of his administration than any other president in history, largely because we had a Democratic Congress, and because there were structures in place to investigate these allegations.

Because HW was allowed to go free, because he shamelessly pardoned people who could have put him and his crew in jail, the same crew was still available to take over for W.

We need to drive a nail in their coffin. We need to oust them, then we need to show no mercy prosecuting these crooks. We need to become Republican Hunters, like the Nazi Hunters, pursuing Wolfowitz and Pearl and Ashcroft into their old age until we have punished every last one of them.

Otherwise, they will just return in a few years, more bold then ever because no one has stopped them in the past.

Okay, first we need to win an election...
