Nassau County (NY) Democratic Convention. My report
So I went to my county convention tonight. I am a new committee person so it was my first time. It was pretty cool. There weren't any planned challenges to candidates. There was one little outburst regarding a challenge to a state committee seat, but nothing dramatic.

The real highlight of the night were Carolyn McCarthy and Gary Ackerman. They both spoke. I briefly spoke with McCarthy. I asked her more than once to please, please, please don't let Bushco go on anything. I asked more than once. I said that I think they were dangerous. She agreed and even used the word dangerous. She also used it in her speech.

Gary Ackerman was AWESOME!!! He says that he is scared shitless for the country. He said that the country has faced "treachery" from Bush. He said that we were lied to to make someone look good. This was a very passionate and scathing speech. He would have made DU proud. I was blown away. He did say something pretty funny. He said that he watched the Super Bowl. He said that it was full of ads for Viagra, "Get it up", Get hard, keep it up and if it stays up to long "see a doctor." He said that people were OK with that, but then Janet Jackson shows her breast and all hell breaks loose. "If people saw more of that, they wouldn't need Viagra." It was a joke on the right wing.

It was a cool experience overall and I am happy that I went.

2. Was Mke D'Innocenzo there?
He was a history prof at Hofstra. Ran for congress in Garden City.

3. If he was, he wasn't announced.
And I don't know him.
