The point Franken is making in doing such things (although the right is far too humorless and thin-skinned to get the irony) is simply "How else CAN you respond to such bile?"

By responding to Limbaugh et al in such ways, he is responding on what he sees as their level ("I know you are, but what am I?") to make the point that the "dialogue" from the right is childish. But he doesn't leave it at that. The bulk of his writings are loaded with facts and direct refutaion of claims from the right.
