7. Screwed up after Reagan!

Reagan presented a good idea at the time.....it was known as the peace dividend. The cold war is over, and we don't need to be spending billions on defense, CIA, and a hugh military.

I must admit, I believed that too at the time. If your opponent is gone, and you don't see another one on the horizon, it makes sense to reduce the size of the force you needed to defeat it.

It seems to me that EVERYONE agreed with that idea.

Whose fault was it that we didn't see there was a new emerging enemy, I don't know. I thought Clarke mentioned raising flags about al Qaeda and noone paid much attention to him. I know there was a Commission, Rudman, Hart, etc, that issued strong warnings at the end of the Clinton Admin, and beginning of Shrub, but their suggestions were disregaurded.

The Iraqi resistance isn't desperate, it's the right-wing cabal here in the USA that is getting desperate. I expect them to pressure the corporate media and launch a full out assault on the truth. The themes are familiar:
- It was all Clinton's, Carter's, Kennedy's, Truman's, and Roosevelt's fault.
- Liberals are traitors and support the terrorists.
- Liberals don't have the nerve to fight terrorists (chickenhawks like Barr do though!)
- Iraq = al qaeda.
- The thousands of WMDs are being hidden in Syria, which is instigating attacks on our troops!

This is a treacherous and powerful corporate cabal in control of our country right now. They will not give up total control without a fight.

Nixon goes down and Ford takes over and makes Poppy Bush head of CIA. Deep Throat is rumored to be whatsisname who is big in Baby Bush's administration now.

Reagan comes along and screws up Ford's chances to be reelected, putting that "wimp" Carter in charge and messing up all Poppy's plans. The Bushes and Reagans don't get along very well.

Poppy Bush runs for president but that damn Reagan is in his way again - eventually there is nothing to do but swallow that Bush Crime Family pride and make the pragmatic decision to join Reagan as VP. At least Poppy now has control over foreign policy since Reagan is gaga. First thing is the deal with Iran to hang onto those hostages and the deal with OPEC to keep oil prices high until Poppy, er... Reagan is firmly ensconced in the WH.

Things look a little dicey when some of the truth about Iran-Contra starts to leak out but in general Poppy has eight years plus four of his very own to set up private contracting firms teaching terrorism, er... anti-communist efforts in South America and Africa and the Middle East.

Then that *&^%$ Clinton comes along and wrecks everything for Poppy again. Eight years of working behind the scenes and cleaning up DimSon so he is mildly presentable, getting DimSon and OlderSon into governorships of two great big states with lots of electoral votes, and generally causing trouble behind the scenes, breaking the knees of the press, etc.

And now it looks like that #$^* Kerry is trying to wreck things for Poppy and DimSon again!!
