1. No - its is PRO CHOICE.
The main point is a woman's right to choose. This is a very important distinction.

3. These guys...
are a bunch of stupid fucks.

If the'yre pro life - ask them to find a young girl who can't raise her new born and settles for an abortion. Have them adopt the kid and raise it as their own. You'll get a deer in the head lights look from them.

Then tell them to shut the fuck up.

2. I hate hearing that term, "pro-abortion" ....
just because we are PRO-CHOICE!!! These "ANTI-CHOICE" people are way too controlling. They are too closed minded to listen and try to learn.

Nobody is "pro" abortion.

I am for a women's right to make her own decision. How is that "pro" abortion or "pro" life?

15. So what? I'm pro abortion. It's a woman's choice.
There is no good reason to run from the word "abortion" or even "pro abortion", as it is a legal, medically safe surgical procedure that, by its very nature, is elective in nature. The decision to undergo the abortion procedure is, in the end, determined by the absolute free-will choice of the individual woman.

20. Right, and logically then you are not
espousing a position either way. You are not "pro" abortion, for instance.

Pro-choice means making the choice for abortion a safe and legal medical procedure, and also making the choice for having a child a supported choice too (like pre- and post-natal care, and good childcare for working mothers, and milk/food/sustenance/healthcare for all children and mothers).

18. You are pro-choice
Which means you can be neither "pro-abortion" nor "anti-abortion". You are in favor of choices, which means you support BOTH alternatives.

Unless you're anti-children, in which case you NEVER support someone who decides to not have an abortion. In that case, you are pro-abortion.

19. I don't see any of these conservanazi pinheads lining up...
...to adopt any unwanted babies, or to provide affordable housing to some single mom who makes less than 20000 a year, or offering to babysit some single moms kid so she can go to work, or to help provide health care and affordable prescription coverage for these poor (as they call them) "baby-killers". Hell no, they are trying to do away with all of that.

By the way, until Bob Barr, or Pat Robertson have had their first labor pain, and raised a kid on their own for twenty years, on a sub-living wage, I don't want to know what the fuck their opinion is on the matter.

27. Yeah, but they don't give one little rats patoot about the fetus...
...once it becomes a baby. That's what steams me about the whole deal. If people are going to take a side on a divisive issue such as this, at least stay the course on it. Don't say you are "pro-life", and then vote to eradicate prenatal care, affordable day care, pre-school, welfare, and come out against affordable health care. It just shows them as the hypocritical SOB's that they really are.

and every one of them should be adopting 30 kids each! They want "babies" only IF they do adopt. I remember a debate I had with an anti-choice freeper, here on DU. SHE admitted to me that she didn't want to adopt a 6-7 or 8 year old child. She wanted a BABY! They also support the death penalty and war...which KILLS many. They are the biggest hypocrites I've ever seen.

with the line, 'most of the supposed pro-life types I've met stop caring about the sanctity of human life the moment the baby's head emerges from between the mother's legs.' I then launched into a tirade about the social programs many pro-life advocates oppose...welfare, free clinics, planned parenthood. Then I added that many pro-life types support the death penalty, which is how many of these precious fetuses ended up. I also pointed out that if abortion were outlawed, some women would turn to back-alley abortionists out of desperation - endangering the life of the mother as well. She was dumbfounded, couldn't retort. I've looked back on that moment with pride.

Unfortunately, the Democratic Party will do nothing to counterspin it. What they need to say is that the Democrats are the party of the working class, of affordable health care, of winning international respect again, et cetera.

But they won't, they will sit cowed and silent.

39. Democrats ARE pro life. Freepers are pro birth.
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 01:16 PM by Straight Shooter
Nobody is for abortion. Nobody is for euthanasia. Those are ridiculous assertions, absolutely ridiculous! Those are difficult decisions, private decisions, and are arrived at between a person and their conscience, and their God.

But freepers are pro war and pro death penalty, which Dems oppose. Democrats want to raise the quality of living for all, to find peaceful solutions so that the entire global community has a chance of a healthier, longer life, with a chance of happiness in that life, not just us spoiled U.S. brats, but freepers want America to lord it over everybody with their excessive standard of living which is sustained by the suffering of the world's poor.

So, just exactly who is pro life?
