Credit where credit is due

Whenever military reservists are called to active duty, the law states
that companies are required to keep their jobs available — period.
Since most people in the private sector are making more money than
they do in the service, this can result in a pay cut. In addition,
there
are no legal requirements for companies to maintain other employee
benefits such as medical insurance or bonus programs.

So what is Sears doing about it? Plenty.

Sears has decided — voluntarily — to pay the difference in salaries
and
maintain company benefits for all their called-up reservist employees
for
up to two years.

5. I'm glad Sears is doing this, but

don't think that they treat employees nicely. When my husband decided to move to another state to look after his mother, they told him to give them two week's notice. As soon as he put in the notice, they fired him, leaving him in the lurch. I've heard of others treated the same way in the past. Maybe the CEO has changed and has a heart. Let's hope so.

I will also NOT forget Sears pioneering work in the area of Bait And Switch, for which they were rightly sued.

I'm glad they are doing right in this instance, but....... that doesn't erase all the crap.

by the way - Rumsfeld was a Director of Sears from 1977-1998..
