The Ronald Reagan Memorial Thread.
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 04:21 PM by DrWeird
In order to counteract all the Pro-Reagan propaganda getting shoved down our throats, I'm starting this thread so everybody can chip in and remind other people who Reagan actually was, not the Cold-war winning, war hero, good actor Reagan you see on TV.

I'll start us off: Ronald Reagan was a racist, when running for governor he expressed his belief that business should be able to discriminate against black people.

Your turn.

According to my little stat thing over at Quitnet:

Your Quit Date is: 5/29/2004 1:00:00 AM

Time Smoke-Free: 7 days, 16 hours, 48 minutes

Cigarettes NOT smoked: 154

Lifetime Saved: 1 day, 4 hours

28. Unbecoming for YOU perhaps ...
Reagan has already committed his crimes ...

That is his legacy ...

What is yours ? .... kicking a dead corpse ? ...

Let's rip off his still warm limbs and hang his torso in the town square .... THAT'll make us feel better ...

Ehem ....

Whatever: act out whatever way you must ....

12. and he's burning in hell
Reagan was a criminal.

The right wing crazies are going to try to spin him as a saint.

It is absolutely ESSENTIAL that their lies be countered.

They will not wait a second to try to use their lies for political gain. They are desperate and going down the tubes.

It is SO important that we start countering the bullshit RIGHT NOW.

The facts about Reagan have to be put out there.

Unless of course you're into deifying a criminal. Personally I don't think that's a good idea.

26. The graveyard is full of assholes ...
Who probably deserve a share of your hatred: have you enough to spread around ? .... or only enough for the recently dead ? ...

The man is DEAD ! ... NO amount of dancin and chantin round the now cold torso will change that one way or another ...

Hatred is inner poison: expressing it is hardly ennobling ...

Hatred pulls the trigger on the innocent: something you can share with those you despise ...

High Horse ? .... chuckles .... common humanity ... When one is careless and hateful: being careless and hateful in response puts you on par with THAT which you claim to hate ...

Rise ABOVE what you despise ...

Dont wallow in the dust of your enemies ....

6. On a positive note - he produced RR Jr - whom I dearly love
and his sister. This remaining family may be the best thing that has happened to us - count my words.

BTW - RR Sr. was chosen by the right because they knew they could control him. In death, he is our best ally - as time progresses.

29. If Nancy R uses this opportunity to renew her plea for
stem cell research, this could turn out to be very bad for shrub. She is just about the only person left who cannot be called a liberal, bleeding heart traitor. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and what she chooses to say will tell a lot about how "unified" Repugs really are. My condolences to his family, and give 'em hell, Nancy!

7. Reagan did NOTHING while the AIDS epidemic erupted.
I hold him accountable that millions have died when he could have demanded that a cure be found. Instead he did nothing. Said nothing. NOTHING. I was proud that I had the opportunity to protest against him while his sorry butt was in the White House for his miserable failure to do SOMETHING. RIP Ron.

20. and now for some Camper Van Beethoven
Sweethearts

’Cause he’s always living back in Dixon
Circa 1949
And we’re all sitting at the fountain, at the five and dime
’Cause he’s living in some b-movie
The lines they are so clearly drawn
In black and white life is so easy
And we’re all coming along on this one
’Cause he’s on a secret mission
Headquarters just radioed in
He left his baby at the dance hall
While the band plays on some sweet song
And on a mission over China
The lady opens up her arms
The flowers bloom where you haved placed them
And the lady smiles, just like mom
Angels wings are icing over
McDonnell-Douglas olive drab
They bear the names of our sweethearts
And the captain smiles, as we crash
’Cause in the mind of Ronald Reagan
Wheels they turn and gears they grind
Buildings collapse in slow motion
And trains collide, everything is fine
Everything is fine
Everything is fine

23. Iran-Iraq war
Reagan egged on Iraq into a war against Iran.

Reagan armed Saddam Hussein with chemical and biological weapons, with missiles, with intelligence to target the chemical weapons.

Reagan pushed the war to continue for eight years. The war saw the highest casualties since World War II, with millions killed on both sides.

Ronald Reagan will burn in hell for his part in pushing this war to continue long beyond when it would otherwise have ended.

Ronald Reagan will burn in hell for the millions of Iraqis and Iranians who died in those battles because of his policies.

Ronald Reagan will burn in hell for the chemical weapons and intelligence he provided to Saddam Hussein.

27. the disaster of Afghanistan, the Taliban, and Al Qaeda
Ronald Reagan's soul will burn in hell for what he did to the society of Afghanistan.

Instead of pursuing a policy that would have taken into account the interests of Afghan society, Reagan ramped up the war in that country against the Soviets, providing all kinds of military aid, bringing in jihadists from all over the world, and encouraging policies that turned Afghanistan into a chaotic, wartorn place ruled by warlords.

The Taliban and Bin Laden were among those who benefitted from Reagan's policies, receiving military aid and training.

Reagan will burn in hell for:

Aiding and abetting the destruction of Afghan society for his own narrow ideological purposes;

For pouring weapons and jihadists into that country;

For creating the circumstances that gave rise to the Taliban and AL Qaeda;

For all who have died as a result of Al Qaeda and Bush.
