Has anyone else gotten this in the mail?
http://www.4casts.com/

When you click on the link, it takes you to a site that talks about how the world is going to change on 8-27 because of the planets aligning.

1. I googled it...
and didn't see any other references to the planets alligning on that day...usually a good sign of a hoax.

2. It's something else
I think that 8/27 will be day that Mars will be the closest to Earth that it has been in the last 60,000 years. It should appear as the brightest object in the sky, except for the moon of course.

8. Yep, and...
...if there's anything to it ("it" being either astrology, or just a physical effect of great big heavenly bodies on sensitive little human bodies), perhaps that's why so many DUers have been feeling "jumpy" lately.

Mars = God O' War, y'know.

4. Well, That could mean the dawning of the Age of Aquarius!

....Well, you started it, so here goes...

When the moon is in the seventh house,
And Jupiter aligns with Mars,
Then Peace shall guide the planet,
And Lo-ove will steer the Stars!

7. Mars was very cool last night
huge, orange and lined up a little over 5º or so from the full moon.

if you're an insomniac or just happen to be up between around 2:30 and 5:00, check it out.

9. Wow, I should've known
I saw that and thought it looked like Mars except much brighter. Clouds were moving fast, giving it the illusion of movement. I ended up assuming it was a plane. :)

10. Typical...
Mars gets really close to Earth, both Astronomy and Sky and Telescope have run issues on it, I get new telescope filters for my birthday, and now it's been cloudy for about three months.

:grr: :grr: :grr:

11. Exact time and date
On August 27, 2003, at 9:51 Universal Time, the centers of Earth and Mars will be only 55,758,006 kilometers (34,646,418 miles) apart. The U.S. Naval Observatory’s MICA software and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s DE406 planetary ephemeris agree on this value for the true geometric distance.

12. uhh, actually I think the planets aligned on May 5
:googles:

well well well! Apparently five of them did on that very date!

http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/solarsystem/planets_align_020402-1.html

and there is supposed to be another on August 28.

But I think all that magnetism stuff the 4cast thing is talking about is, to be perfectly blunt, bulls**t.
