1. I voted "today".
But, both men are bastards. The difference is that Castro will never die... he will outlive our grandkids.

3. You need a "neither" option.
Both days will be the passing of an important historical figure. I don't feel joy or sorrow at Reagan's passing, nor will I at Castro's.

As I don't know either of the men you are refering to personally it would be stupid of me to be sad.

Of course your poll will give the Freepers something to point to and say "see! they're all communists over there." Oh, well.

when Freepers call DUers commies. Freepers, by and large, are the redneck blue collar conservatives who would benefit from ousting b*sh - they are not the wealthy elite that benefit from b*sh. DUers are more likely to have people on board that benefit from b*sh's tax cuts (READ: not commies!! - LOL), but are smart enough to see the big picture and to know that b*sh is undoubtedly the Worst president in the entire history of the USA.

10. The core of the Republican agenda is ...
... to get people to vote against their own best interests.

7. People here are effing nuts. The day Castro dies will be a good day
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 07:41 PM by Bombtrack
Last time I checked Reagan wasn't hanging around being our dictator and refusing to step down preventing our country from having some chance at change. Unlike Cuba untill Castro dies in all liklihood.

16. I kind of resent the implication
that Castro is a hero to the left and thus then used as a comparison to Reagan. Castro has never been my hero.

Give me comparisons such as how I might have felt (had I been alive) about the death of FDR... then it might seem legitimate.

This is really erroneous - and I really dislike the implication. Castro does not represent to liberals what Reagan represents to conservatives.

17. Because they are 2 hugely famous old guys who people have wondering
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 07:48 PM by Bombtrack
about when they would die for litterally decades. Those 2 and the pope.

Only with Castro it actually has a huge geopolitical and historical effect and potential for change, considering he's been opressing his people since the early 60's, and it seems the only thing that has a chance to let that end is his demise.

13. and these are comparable events because?
Seems like apples and oranges - and frankly neither moves me terribly much. Though the Castro system will leave me more moved in the sense of holding my breath for the stability of the country in the days/months (even years) proceding his death. This is the time when factional fighting, and external interventions can wreak endless havoc on peoples.
