Anyone here old enough to remember how some cheered Kennedy's

assassination? I do. Some of the most vile comments came from Texas and Illinois, the Carolinas and Gerogia...the newspapers even printed some of those comments. Same is true for the assassination of RFK and MLK. I believe the RW forgets how ugly they have been. May Ronnie rest in peace but life goes on. I am more concerned about the young men and women in Iraq who have not had a chance to live their lives to the fullest.

From Texas, but you probably guessed that already. The majority of the kids in my 5th grade class cheered and applauded when Kennedy was assassinated. I was horrified, and have never forgotten it.

Reagan lived much longer than most, and he had every privilege in the latter part of his life. People rejoicing his death are (justifiably) angry at what he has done to this country. Much of what is wrong today is a direct result of his horrrible policies.

I've seen those people post stuff beyond vile.

Yet the right wants to call us hateful and bitter.

Same with Reagan's death.

They have openly and viciously celebrated the death of beloved Democrats -- two words: Paul Wellstone.

and, much to my disgust, one student in my class actually cheered. He was chastised and shamed by the principal who had stepped into our classroom in our tiny school to give us the bad news.
Everyone else, as far as I knew, was deeply saddened and horrified by the response of that one none-to-bright a**hole.

I know it must seem like all Texans are hate-filled idiots, rednecks and a**holes. (We definitely have at least, our share.) But there are some Texans (I would like to think most Texans) who are compassionate, caring and have good sense.

I feel so apologetic for being Texan and resent Bush for his part in making me feel that way. We have enough of an image problem without his adding to it.

...in St. Petersburg, FL, began cheering wildly when the news became public. I was shocked by the assassination, and shocked again by their ugly reaction.

That's the day when I became politically motivated.
