How do Bush* and Reagan stack up against each other?

Maybe we should ask those right leaner's that believe Reagan to be so very great just how Bush* stacks up against him. Reagan is known for his optimism more than any other thing. Bush* is known for his negative attacks and incompetence. I would like to see a list of Reagan's most admirable traits as compared to Bush*'s. Do they consider Bush* to be Reagan's equal or does that demean Reagan in their eyes? It would be interesting to see their reaction to such a comparison

compares to Ronnie, they will find big trouble. There is no comparison to be made. The best thing shrub can do is make a public show of condolences and let it rest. The "Cult of St Ronnie" is not happy with Bush's stance on stem cell reseach!

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- When a conservative icon breaks ranks with President Bush on an important policy, it's not just news -- it's the political Play of the Week.

And that's what Nancy Reagan did in her recent comments in support of stem cell research.

In August 2001, after lengthy deliberation at his Crawford, Texas, ranch, Bush issued an executive order banning the use of federal funds to harvest new lines of stem cells for medical research.

Scientists complained that the president's policy -- backed by the anti-abortion movement -- chokes off research that shows promise of one day finding cures for diabetes, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries and Alzheimer's disease -- the terrible malady that afflicts former President Reagan.

Mrs. Reagan wrote to Bush in 2001, saying she hoped sparing other families the pain she had suffered would be part of her husband's legacy. She allowed that fact to become public.

But with the erosion of personal freedom, the excessive secrecy, financial ties to and excessive tax breaks to the corporations and the "inability" to prosecute thieves who "happen" to be major Shrub contributors.

9. Agreed and i think even if the bushies don't over do it

(which they will...) the problem still is there for bush. The news coverage will continue due to the perception that the public wants it and is eating it up... each time the next mythic and spun report of Reagan is on... each viewer does a brief mental comparison to junior. Only thing that can transfer to Junior - is a negative comparison.

The most obvious contrast is the meanness of b* versus the amiability of Reagan -- even the chimp's father recounts (over and over) the inimitable quality of Reagan to be able to disagree without being or becoming disagreeable, and then there's chimp&co ... :puke:

IMHO, we have come far too far away from making the healthy distinction between hating the policy versus hating the policy-maker ... needless to say, chimp's "lead" is ALL IN THE WRONG DIRECTION

Just recently, Bill Clinton has spoken (opening lecture at Dole Institute and speech to Book Exhibitors) quite eloquently on these matters too ...
