4. The Nation is My Newsmagazine of Choice

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that all news stories are biased one way or another, so I may as well read one that tends to follow my own political ideology.

7. I don't know...

I'm not sure critical reading is one that pats you on the back for your own views. I want to watch the network nightly news and read a mainstream newsmagazine (Newsweek, in my case), if only to get a finger on the pulse of the media & the nation.

I read everything through the filter of my own beliefs & BS Detector, so I can enjoy reading Fareed Zakaria (a fiscal conservative, but social liberal) and even occasionally George Will, if only to get an idea of where their heads are at.

12. Where's The Economist?

There are more than just the 3 big US weeklies. Despite their stance on Bush, I like the Economist's non-US slant on things, as well as their science and literature reporting. Now if I could only do their annual crossword.....

The Economist is the best thing to have ever happened to weekly magazines in a while. Massive amount of information, world-oriented view, and a plethora of different topics addressed in one issue. All with thorough professionalism and little sensationalism.

They print all kinds of information, even if it shoots down their 'free' market editorial line.

16. None of those magazines meet my information needs anymore.

They have all sold out for profit. None of them have the journalists that at one time I looked forward to reading every week.

Salon.com is also good, and I agree on The Economist.
