Should Kerry now hammer the stem cell research issue?

This would be a jab at Bush and a serious look at a serious issue.

2. That would sting

The putz turns his back at possibly saving future Alzheimer patience, and Kerry takes up the issue as his own. Just imagine Nancy and Kerry standing together at the DNC this summer.

5. To do so now would lead to accusations of politicizing Reagan's death
It's okay for Repubs to politicize anything and everything under the sun. But not for Dems. Not even with the best of intentions. And of course it's a volatile issue, being closed tied to the abortion rhetoric.

But I do hope he gets the opportunity to finally get stem cell research off the back burner and up front where it belongs

6. He has to do this if he wants to win.
Edited on Mon Jun-07-04 02:22 PM by Kid_A
That is too brilliant of a move politically for him not to do it, and I'm sure his advisers know it. It's a win-win: He gets to show his non-partisanship by paying tribute to Reagan, and also point that Bush had the power to maybe improve the last couple years of Reagan's death but decided to suck up to the religious right instead. If Kerry does this, he will be invulnerable, at least on this issue. Limbaugh and Hannity and their ilk can't defend Bush's position on stem cells, and they blast Kerry for saying something nice about Reagan. This could be an election winner...

flow of the energy....and build a base on bipartisan instead of dividing....unite....

12. I would love to see that......
She has had an opportunity to see the negative of the repubican machine by being squashed for someone she really loved.... that can be a driver and change her life and the lives of many others....yes that would be very nice...

10. laura Bushs dad had it
know how hard it is to lose someone to Alzheimer's disease. I lost my father seven years ago, so this subject is never far from my heart. My parents were members of the great generation honored here tonight.
