G.W. Bush= A.J. Soprano

Last night while watching The Sopranos I realized that our nation is being "governed" by Tony Soprano's son.

A.J. is a son of privelege, never wanting for a thing and never really punished for his misdeeds. A criminal and sociopath for a father. The look A.J. had on his face at the party, watching the fight was so creepy- sexual and sociopathic pleasure at the sight of a violent fight.

I also noticed some parallels in the storyline and what is happening in our nation right now, which could possibly be explained by sychronicity. How elso could the writer's have created such a similar storyline? Or maybe they foresaw this happening. Who knows?

There is also some crossover of Tony/A.J. characteristics in *. If Poppy Bush is as crazy as I think he is (I think he's totally lost it,) * can't rely on him for advice or protection or anything else. It is the same with Tony and Corrado Soprano, the patriarch whose place Tony must take.

Last night's episode was a turning point for Tony. He made the decisions he had to and took back the reigns of control. I believe this is what * has decided to do, as a poster here (can't remember who) said last week in one of the Tenet firing threads. He realizes he's been manipulated and made to look like a fool and he's had enough. He apparently fired Tenet without consulting anyone. During the Tom Brokaw interview- no earpiece and he didn't sound nearly as bad as he has in previous interviews. I believe that had to have been his decision.

If the Capitol Blue story is correct, I fear we may have A.J./Tony Soprano (with a little religious fanaticism thrown in) in charge of our country. I think I felt more comfortable when he was a puppet.

Your interpretation of events is interesting.

I didn't see the interview, but your take on it is fascinating.

I'd feel almost happy if I knew that Bunnypants* was an AJ Soprano, rather than a Tiberius or Nero archetype.

None of us can know all that is really going on, but this is what it looked like to me.

I think the Sopranos writers are developing AJ's character into a young tyrant. Caligula's offspring.

Actually I think the analogy is a decent one. AJ is exhibiting signs of fratboyhood. I recognize those signs. :beer:

I think AJ's behavior is more disturbing than frat guy a-hole. It wasn't just enjoyment or amusement, it was pleasure on his face.

I do see W as Fredo as well. At my house we often do the "I'm smart! I can do things" routine when we see pictures of the chimp.
