Divorce Should Be Criminalized

I say if homosexuals can't get married then heterosexuals can't get divorced.

That'll preserve the "sanctity" of marriage.

Why doesn't anyone use this as an argument? Makes sense to me.

If only for the quizzical looks you'd get on people's faces when they try to wrap their pea-sized brains around the argument.

2. My idea is that if someone commits adultery...

they have left their marriage and should have to leave ALL the marital assest to their marriage partner.

Back to your point, I think that you are correct when those people get all high and mighty it is nice to throw their words and ideas back in their faces. It is so easy to talk big when it involves people that you feel are inferior but when it comes home to roost it is not so wonderful.

Adultery causes more pain and suffering then most things that we currently have as illegal. I compare it to drunk driving, a innocent party is negatively affected by another irresponsibilty in a possibly life shattering way.

I think adultery should have a penalty, both legally and in divorce court.

We have criminal records because we don't want thieves working in a bank. So thus we should record cheaters because if they can't be trusted with those they 'love' then they certainly can not be trusted with goverment or industry secrets.

In North Carolina, one can actually sue for "alienation of affection." The party who gets sued though is not the cheating spouse, but the "enabling" lover. You stole my wife, you broke my heart, now pay up. People do win these kinds of suits too; sometimes for millions.

You can't 'steal' a person away. The person cheating is responsible for the actions of their own body and mind. They want to cheat fine, but you leave your car keys and your stuff at home and start your knew life 'fresh' (as in with nothing).

5. My argument that I use...

Against my religiously insane friends is that since they believe that the Bible is the inerant word of God, then divorce = adultery. Therefore, Ronald Reagan is a bigger adulterer than Clinton could ever hope to be since he divorced Spock's mom and married Nancy, the dragon lady, and they have essentially been living in sin since the 50s.

Of course, that's just a devil's advocate argument to make their synapses (both of them) start fizzling and popping. "Bible being used against me... Must choose it or greatness of Reagan... System shutdown approaching... Oil can... Oil can..."

bring back naming those guilty of "alienation of affection" so the complainant can name W&Co for wiping out family assets, causing mental stress and impotence, promoting hopelessness that that results in occasions of substance abuse (drugs/alcohol), and also naming religious fruitcake relatives who blame the victims of this crew's policies and refuse their compassionate aid to their grandchildren.

More...married in the church? Where are all those RR individuals who were charged w/upholding and "nurturing" the newly married/long-term married couple's marriage and the products of that marriage?

It seems that only NY recognizes conjugal responsibility in marriage and no mention whether the act's for kids, pleasure, or meeting emotional needs of the partner.

You are on the side of social justice, screw them! Tell them this is what you want, this is what you feel is right, and if they don't like it they can kiss your ass.

If they tell you that you are going to hell, remind them that Jesus commanded them to leave such judgments to God and tell them that they have 'lost their way' and that you hope they find the 'right path'. If they say they know the right path, warn them against the sin of 'pride'.

As much as I hate divorce I can't endorse criminalizing it, even in jest.

I do think it should be much harder to get married and divorced though. I also think that in some cases it should be much easier, like in cases of abuse etc.
